The Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid carries over into its second model year with no significant updates, aside from a slight price increase.

The base S model now costs $425 more than its equivalent 2024 counterpart, along with a $1,350 destination fee that remains unchanged from previous years. While basic in terms of luxury features, this automobile still boasts a fundamental level of amenities, including manually adjustable front seats and fabric upholstery; however, it does come standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, two front USB-C charging ports, and the usual array of driver assistance technologies.

Priced at $31,065, this trim level includes cutting-edge features such as wireless phone charging capabilities, two rear-seat USB-C charging ports, advanced climate control, a blind-spot monitoring system, and rear cross-traffic alert for enhanced safety and convenience. For 2024, a Nightshade Edition is introduced, offering 18-inch wheels and a sleek blackout aesthetic on the SE grade, priced at $31,990.

The top-tier XSE trim costs $32,930 and comes equipped with premium features such as power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automated climate control, foglights, a rear armrest, a 60/40 split-folding rear bench seat, a digital instrument cluster, and “mixed-media” upholstery.

The all Corolla Cross Hybrid trims utilize a consistent powertrain configuration.

The powertrain features a 2.0-litre inline-four engine paired with the fifth-generation version of Toyota’s pioneering planetary-gear hybrid technology, allowing for In the larger RAV4 Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid models, Toyota employs its “e-AWD” configuration, featuring a secondary electric motor driving the rear wheels independently of the front wheels via no mechanical link.

According to Toyota, the hybrid powertrain enables the Corolla Cross Hybrid to accelerate from 0-60 mph in a claimed 8.0 seconds. The automaker anticipates strong demand for its existing models, particularly those from previous model years, which are expected to remain popular. Toyota offers a non-hybrid Corolla Cross option with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, boasting an estimated 32 miles per gallon in combined driving and 30 mpg for the latter configuration. The automaker has also developed a prototype hydrogen-combustion Corolla Cross, marking its entry into the electric vehicle market.

By reconfiguring the tried-and-true foundation of the dependable Corolla sedan and hatchback into a sleeker crossover form, Toyota has cleverly rebirthed the Corolla as the Corolla Cross. The vehicle debuted for the 2022 model year, with a hybrid variant set to follow in 2023. The initial two model years of the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid were recently recalled due to a shortage of electric brake assistance.

The 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, a collaborative effort with Mazda, is expected to hit dealership floors in late December 2024.
