Ford revealed its all-electric Explorer in March, reinvigorating the iconic SUV for a modern era.

The Hyundai Kona Electric is a compact five-seat family SUV designed specifically for the European market. Ford seamlessly blended classic American styling with the precision of German engineering to craft a pioneering, all-electric midsize SUV.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E’s all-electric Explorer variant leverages Volkswagen’s modular electric drive matrix (MEB) architecture, mirroring that of the ID.4. Is it the inaugural event of a 2020 partnership aimed at revitalizing the Ford brand in the region? With its ample 470-liter storage capacity and a spacious 15-inch, moveable touchscreen display equipped with seamless integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality, Ford’s innovative electric SUV is designed to navigate family adventures with ease.

The Explorer EV’s advanced battery technology enables rapid charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 25 minutes, allowing for a swift return to the road.

Although production was initially expected to commence by the end of 2022, Ford ultimately pushed back its timeline in the summer to comply with newly implemented global security regulations.

According to Martin Sander, head of Ford’s European Electric Vehicle (EV) division, “The Explorer EV is a significantly improved vehicle compared to what we would have introduced six months ago.” The extra time allowed us to thoroughly fine-tune each aspect, ensuring a flawless product for our customers.

With a fully charged battery, the electric Explorer can travel an impressive distance of over 374 miles (600 km) on a single charge. Ford Europe’s Vice President of Producing, Kieran Cahill, declared that the start of production (SOP) signals the dawn of a fresh era for the company on the continent.

Ford’s all-electric Explorer is available in a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) and a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) model in European markets.

Priced from £45,875 ($58,000), the only-motor mannequin comes equipped with a 77 kWh battery. Ford’s electric Explorer boasts a potent combination of Volkswagen’s dual-motor setup, which powers the German automaker’s sporty GTX models, paired with a substantial 79 kWh battery pack. Equipped with advanced extended-range nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) batteries.

Ford plans to release a standard-range NMC battery at a future date. Initial costs are projected to begin at approximately £39,875 (around $50,000).

The all-electric Explorer was the first model to roll off the assembly line in Cologne, marking a significant milestone for the automaker.

Ford has announced that a brand-new electric vehicle (EV) sports car crossover will be unveiled soon before its Series Production begins later this year. Following reports of a brand-new electric vehicle spotted testing late last year, speculation suggests that it may be an electrified version of the iconic Ford Capri. Electrek’s Take

Despite being designed with Europe in mind, Ford’s latest Explorer EV might equally miss an opportunity to make waves in its own backyard.

Bigger electrical SUVs are promoting. Kia recorded its second-best ever monthly sales performance in May in the US, as the newly launched three-row EV9 electric SUV quickly gained popularity. Kia has reported a significant milestone in its electric vehicle (EV) sales, having purchased 7,766 units of its EV9 fashion during the initial five months of the year, narrowly eclipsing the performance of its first dedicated EV, the EV6, which sold approximately 8,770 units.

According to Q1 sales data, Rivian’s R1S electric vehicle ranked fourth in terms of popularity, securing a 2.9% market share, narrowly trailing Ford’s Mustang Mach-E which held a 3.5% stake.

Although the R1S starts at a price of $74,900, its competitor, the Mach-E, enters the market at a significantly lower point, with a starting price of just $39,995. Ford is postponing the launch of its larger electric SUV in the US market, opting instead to focus on smaller, more affordable electric vehicles.

Ford’s Chief Executive Officer Jim Farley has reaffirmed his commitment to compact electric vehicles (EVs). During an interview, Ford’s representative, Farley, revealed that the company aims to rival the industry’s top performers. Currently, Ford perceives the most significant threat emanating from Chinese automotive manufacturers such as BYD.
