Toyota is poised to build its first US-based, three-row electric SUV after securing nearly $1 billion in funding for its Kentucky plant. Despite this, it will not arrive with haste. As soon as possible, you’ll have the opportunity to expect seeing it.

Toyota commits $1 billion to its Kentucky plant ahead of new 3-row SUV launch.

Toyota is committing an additional $922 million to build a state-of-the-art paint shop at its Georgetown, Kentucky facility. Following a $1.3 billion funding announcement in February, Thursday’s update provides further insight into the corporation’s plans and priorities.

Toyota has secured a staggering $2 billion in funding within the past year, paving the way for the launch of its inaugural three-row electric SUV.

Toyota has revised its timeline for producing the electric SUV, with a new target launch window set for the first half of 2026, moving the original start date from 2025. Toyota has recently informed its suppliers of a slowdown in the roll-out of its new electric vehicles, following this announcement.

As Toyota’s largest global manufacturing facility, the Kentucky plant is poised to play a crucial role in ensuring the automaker’s competitiveness as the US market transitions to electric vehicles.

The brand-new paint store is set to debut in 2027, harnessing its expertise to help “Toyota vehicles stand out” with superior know-how. According to Kerry Creech, president of Toyota Kentucky, clients will not only receive dynamic and trendy exterior finishes but also benefit from Toyota’s commitment to cutting-edge paint technologies that go beyond aesthetics.

Toyota’s ambitious plans for a large-scale, all-electric SUV concept, dubbed the bZ4X, aim to revolutionize the automotive landscape.

Toyota announced that its newly built paint facility will span 1 million square feet while reducing carbon emissions by a significant 30%. This innovative system has the potential to reduce water consumption by a substantial 1.5 million gallons annually.

Toyota is pushing back its debut of a larger electric SUV in the US market, while European customers can expect a new EV model to arrive soon.

Toyota debuted its brand-new electric Land Cruiser model in a standalone launch on Thursday. There is no such thing as a fully electric Toyota Land Cruiser, let alone one similar in size to the Yaris Cross. It’s possible that you may be thinking of the Toyota bZ4X, a new electric SUV concept unveiled in 2021. If so, here’s an improved version: The Toyota bZ4X is a brand-new, fully electric SUV concept that showcases the company’s commitment to electrification and sustainability. It’s expected to hit European markets within the next 12 months, pending its adoption of Suzuki’s innovative electric vehicle platform.
