On December 9, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unveiled the brand-new BYD Dolphin, a fully electric hatchback. The refreshed model boasts subtle design tweaks and introduces a 130 kW (174 horsepower) electric motor option. The 2025 BYD Dolphin, currently available in the market, boasts a price range of 99,800 to 129,800 yuan, equivalent to approximately $13,700 to $17,900 USD.
In November, the BYD Dolphin reported a remarkable sales performance, with 21,712 models sold, thereby reaching a cumulative total of 176,560 units for the year so far.
Compared to the 2025 model currently available for purchase, the redesigned entry point on either side of this mannequin has undergone a subtle adjustment. From a design perspective, the physical contours remain unchanged, aside from the subtly integrated door handles.
The redesigned “Construct Your Dream” logo on the rear taillight now proudly sports the “BYD” insignia, a subtle yet significant upgrade. Concurrently, refinements have been made to the taillight’s internal design and the lower section of the rear compartment. The brand-new automobile is designed to accommodate either 195/60R16 or 205/50R17 tyres.
The BYD Dolphin boasts dimensions of 4,280mm in length, 1,770mm in width, and 1,570mm in height, with a wheelbase measuring 2,700mm – an increase of 155mm compared to its predecessor on sale from 2025. The three car curb weights reported were 1435 kg, 1480 kg, and 1600 kg exactly.
The optionally available configurations comprise a panoramic sunroof, front radar, front camera, rear radar, front side radar, rear side radar, side mirror camera, rear camera, black roof, rear privacy glass, high-gloss finish, and various rim designs.
In addition, three long-lasting magnet synchronous motor options were announced for the powertrain.

The entire collection will leverage BYD’s advanced Blade LFP battery technology. The top speeds vary between 150 km/h and 160 km/h, depending on the trim level.
The 2025 BYD Dolphin offers two energy options: one with a maximum output of 70 kW, generating 180 Nm of peak torque; the other, a high-performance variant, boasting a maximum power of 150 kW and 310 Nm of peak torque.
The BYD Blade features a 44.928 kWh low-power trim and a 60.48 kWh high-power trim, both utilizing the same battery pack. This translates to respective cruising ranges of 420 km and 520 km.
