Recently, Chinese retailers unveiled the arrival of the fourth-generation Wuling Hongguang Mini EV’s five-door variant at their stores, with a planned launch slated for 2025 and an estimated price tag of no more than 50,000 yuan ($6,900 USD).
The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, a fourth-generation model, is set to offer a three-door variant built primarily around the Tianyu S platform. In October, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV series recorded a significant milestone with the purchase of 42,165 units. Since its official debut in July 2020, the series has held the top spot as the gross sales leader among A00-level new energy vehicles for an unprecedented 51 straight months, according to the official data.
The exterior of the newly launched Wuling Hongguang Mini EV’s five-door iteration retains its signature rounded shape, showcasing a consistent design identity. The distinctive oval headlight cluster and concave front fascia successfully enhance the vehicle’s three-dimensional visual appeal. The slow and speedy charging port is situated at the entrance. The rear of the vehicle features taillights that mirror the design of the headlights, sharing a similar shape and aesthetic.
Simultaneously, the exterior also presents a unique opportunity for a floating roof design, featuring a sleek and modern dual-color body. The all-new vehicle features sleek, 13-inch petal-shaped alloy wheels. The newly manufactured vehicle boasts dimensions of 3256mm in length, 1510mm in width, and 1578mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2190mm. With an enhanced dimension of 192mm in length compared to its predecessor, as detailed in our specifications section, and a corresponding increase of 180mm in wheelbase, this latest iteration boasts a more substantial presence on the road.
The five-door variant is powered by an electric motor with a maximum output of 30 kW (40 hp), paired with a 16.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack supplied by either Gotion or Saike Ruipu Energy Battery System, providing a CLTC range of 205 km. The vehicle’s high speed is approximately 62.14 miles per hour. The third-generation model offers a range of up to 120km, 170km, or 215km on a single charge, depending on the chosen City, Long Trip, and Turbo modes.
The fourth-generation Wuling Hongguang Mini EV features an updated interior design, boasting an 8-inch suspended central touchscreen display and a 7-inch full-LCD instrument cluster, accompanied by a dual-spoke steering wheel, rounded air conditioning vents, and intuitive control knobs. New features introducing advanced technologies such as self-parking capabilities and intuitive management controls for front and rear window functions have been incorporated. Additionally, various configurations incorporate long-range management, keyless start and go, dual audio systems, and premium cloth seating.
