Tesla has secured a massive new Megapack order to power France’s largest-ever energy storage system.

TagEnergy is currently working on a groundbreaking new energy storage project in Marne, poised to become France’s largest battery facility.

They have officially committed to leveraging Tesla’s Megapack energy storage technology.

This milestone endeavour heralds the commencement of a far-reaching expansion strategy for 2025, characterized by expedited advancements in solar power and energy storage initiatives. Tesla, as a key partner, brings to the table its expertise in cutting-edge storage solutions and successful market entrants.

The reference likely pertains to “venture capital firms” that seek to leverage Tesla’s Autobidder, a cutting-edge platform for real-time buying, selling, and managing energy assets, which optimizes market bidding and dispatch operations for maximum value.

TagEnergy is poised to expand its collaborations, having already worked with Tesla, and is now partnering with a trio of prominent financial institutions: the Dutch giant ABN AMRO, Germany’s NORD/LB Norddeutsche Landesbank, and France’s CEPAC.

What’s the size of this energy storage project? The venture plans to develop a massive 240 megawatts (MW) and 480 megawatt-hours (MWh) system.

This 240 megawatt/480 megawatt-hour venture will undertake the critical tasks of optimizing energy utilization through the deployment of decarbonized power, providing vital support during peak demand periods, and ensuring grid resilience by leveraging its rapid-response capabilities to stabilize the network instantly. The proposed battery technology has the potential to store approximately 20% of the Marne division’s residential energy demands, serving a population of over 500,000 residents.

That could potentially be a conversation starter about approximately 123 Tesla Megapack battery systems.

While not Tesla’s largest Megapack project globally, this European endeavour stands out as one of the continent’s biggest and undisputedly the largest in France to date.

Tesla’s vitality division has been on fire this year.

Not long ago, Tesla managed to deploy an impressive 480 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy storage capacity within a single quarter. In its standalone venture, the corporation successfully deployed 6.9 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage capacity during the fourth quarter, a significant 75 percent increase year-over-year?

Tesla has recently announced that its Megafactory, responsible for producing the Megapack, is nearing its anticipated capacity of 40 gigawatt-hours (GWh) within a 12-month timeframe. The corporation is expected to launch its second Megafactory online in Shanghai within the next year.
