Huawei and GAC will jointly create a NEV brand

On November 30, GAC and Huawei collaborated on a groundbreaking venture to develop a cutting-edge, high-end electric vehicle, joining forces with GAC’s renowned brands, including Aion, Trumpchi, and Hyptec. GAC coined the cooperation as “Huawei Intelligence + GAC Sensible Manufacturing”, overlaying R&D, advertising, and companies, which has similarities to the cooperation mode utilized by Huawei and 4 different automakers beneath the Concord Clever Mobility Alliance (HIMA).

Presently, HIMA boasts a portfolio of four partner manufacturers: Aito, jointly established by Huawei and Seres, with Seres now owning the brand; Luxeed, a collaboration with Chery; Stelato, developed in partnership with BAIC; and Maextro, a joint venture with JAC.

Apparently, around two years ago, GAC halted its collaboration with Huawei on intelligent vehicles citing “no interest in introducing a new model”. On July 9, 2022, GAC announced its agreement to a competitive test between GAC Aion and Huawei’s AH8 prototype. Based on the settlement, two events will collaborate to create a series of intelligent vehicles for future development, building upon the innovative era of smart car digital platforms, specifically GAC’s GEP 3.0 and Huawei’s CCA (computing and communication architecture), which will be equipped with comprehensive Huawei smart vehicle solutions.

On March 27, 2023, GAC announced a significant change to its GAC Aion AH8 challenge, transitioning from collaborative improvement with Huawei to an independent evaluation process, with Huawei serving solely as a technology provider. At the earnings convention a couple of days later, Zeng Qinghong, chairman of GAC, noted that GAC and Huawei had initially discussed jointly developing a new model; however, GAC has already launched brands such as Aion and Hyper, rendering it unnecessary to create a new brand.

At the most recent Guangzhou Auto Show, GAC announced its plans to debut seven new models in 2025, spanning pure electric, extended-range, and plug-in hybrid options with the goal of achieving more than 60% of the company’s total sales by 2027. Subsequently, over a span of three years, Geely Automobile Corporation plans to introduce an impressive 22 new fashion-inspired models.

GAC Trumpchi is partnering with Huawei to debut three new mid-to-high-end SUVs, MPVs, and sedans, each equipped with advanced autonomous driving capabilities from the tech giant. The Chinese automaker GAC has announced plans to integrate its innovative range-extender technology into the designs of its upcoming electric vehicles, dubbed Aion and Hypetec.

Chinese automaker GAC Trumpchi and tech giant Huawei have collaborated on a revolutionary concept vehicle called the iSee (not 1 Idea).

Prior to its launch, the innovative GAC Trumpchi-Huawei collaboration, dubbed “Idea One”, has been previewed, boasting a substantial dimensions profile: 5,128 millimeters in length, over 2,000 millimeters in width, and a wheelbase measuring 3,000 millimeters. The vehicle’s exterior design incorporates GAC Trumpchi’s latest third-generation aesthetic, while its interior features a harmonious fusion of Huawei’s innovative automotive solutions and HarmonyOS cockpit technology, further enhanced by the integration of Qiankun ADS 3.0 systems. The mass-manufactured electric vehicle is poised to debut in the initial three months of 2025.
