The upgraded Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 electric vehicles are now available for pre-ordering in Europe. Volkswagen has upgraded its electric vehicles (EVs) with a cutting-edge electrical drive, advanced battery technology, and an innovative infotainment system.
The Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 have been upgraded with even more variety.
Volkswagen announced on Tuesday that it is commencing pre-orders for its latest electric offerings, the ID.4 and ID.5 models.
The German automaker unveiled an upgraded ID.4 and ID.5 lineup, featuring a revamped electric powertrain that boasts up to 60 kW in increased power output compared to its predecessor.
Additionally, this model features a newly introduced 77 kWh battery, allowing for extended driving ranges across all trim levels. The ID.4 Professional and ID.5 Professional models of the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) vehicle feature a significant upgrade to their electric powertrain, with a boosted 210 kilowatt motor, compared to the previous generation’s 150 kilowatts.
Volkswagen asserts that the facility’s supply has been enhanced in every situation, boasting a substantial 75% boost in additional torque, resulting in a total output of 310 to 545 Nm.
The ID.4’s upgraded unit enables it to achieve an impressive WLTP-certified range of up to 550 kilometres (342 miles). Meanwhile, the ID.5 SUV coupe boasts an impressive range of up to 556 kilometers (345 miles), thanks to its full charge.
The new range-topping electric vehicles, the AWD ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX, boast an impressive total system output of 250 kilowatts, marking a significant 30-kilowatt boost compared to their predecessors. As a result, the GTX variants are capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Volkswagen’s base model ID.4 remains unchanged, equipped with a 125 kW motor.
Inside upgrades and added options
Volkswagen further enhanced the cockpit’s user experience by introducing faster and more intuitive software that amplifies its overall performance capabilities.
The updated ID.4 and ID.5 now boast a standard 12.9-inch (32.8 cm) infotainment screen, a notable upgrade from the previous 12-inch model. The updated model also boasts a fresh menu configuration, an enhanced digital dashboard, and an optional heads-up display.
The Volkswagen model featured an array of innovative options, including intuitive climate control with illuminated knobs, as well as a multifunctional steering wheel boasting revamped operational logic.
An advanced voice assistant has been designed to respond to commands with increased precision, offering novel features such as real-time weather updates, sports schedules, and stock market news.
The new fashion options can include a premium sound system from Harman Kardon, featuring ten speakers and a powerful 480W output.
The DC charging capacity has now been enhanced from 135 kW to 175 kW, allowing for expedited recharging – a mere 178 kilometers in just ten minutes. The Volkswagen ID.4 Pure’s 52-kWh battery now supports 115 kW charging, an upgrade from the previous 110 kW.
Novel charging and thermal management strategies on advanced models ensure that batteries are pre-conditioned beforehand, guaranteeing optimal performance at subsequent charge stops.
Volkswagen prices its ID.4 and ID.5 models equally from the base level, with no variation in pricing regardless of the optional upgrades chosen. Costs in Europe start at approximately €40,335 ($42,780).
In the United States, the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 with its upgraded 82-kilowatt-hour battery package now features significant enhancements, including increased power, range, and technological advancements. Pricing for US fashion brands is expected to be revealed closer to their product launches.
