Can Volvo’s 2022.5 XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle deliver a thrilling driving experience in Copenhagen?

Let’s find out!

On a chilly autumn morning, I hopped behind the wheel of the refreshed 2022.5 XC90 T8 PHEV, eager to see how this Swedish stalwart performs on the roads of Copenhagen.

First impressions: The XC90’s sleek design and imposing stance make it hard to ignore – even in a city like Copenhagen where understated elegance is the norm.

With its plug-in hybrid powertrain delivering 415 horsepower, the XC90 T8 promises impressive acceleration and smooth cruising capabilities. But how does it fare in real-world driving scenarios?

To test its mettle, I put the XC90 T8 through its paces on a mix of city streets, motorways, and winding country roads.

In town, the XC90’s quiet refinement and composed ride make it an excellent choice for daily commutes. However, when you need to merge onto busy highways or tackle twisty backroads, the PHEV’s 0-60 mph time of around 5 seconds comes in handy – especially with the regenerative braking system keeping the batteries topped up.

But what about the electric-only driving range? In real-world testing, I managed a respectable 25 miles on a single charge, perfect for shorter trips or urban jaunts. Of course, that’s assuming you keep an eye on your energy consumption and adjust the drive mode accordingly – which is easy enough to do using the intuitive touchscreen interface.

Now, it’s not all about power and range; the XC90 T8 also boasts an impressive array of safety features, including a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist. On Copenhagen’s congested streets, these technologies proved invaluable in avoiding collisions and staying safe.

In conclusion: Volvo’s 2022.5 XC90 T8 PHEV is an excellent choice for those seeking a stylish, practical, and eco-friendly ride that can handle both city traffic and open-road adventures with ease.
