According to Chinese-language reports, Xiaomi is poised to unveil its highly anticipated second model, the MX11, a forthcoming SUV, in the first quarter of 2025. The launch date for the Xiaomi SU7 Extreme’s manufacturing model is slated for March 2025.

According to a reliable Xiaomi insider, the highly anticipated SUV is expected to hit the market in either February or March. Notwithstanding reports suggesting a differing timeline, another credible source indicates that the Xiaomi Auto SUV’s release is likely to harmonize with the SU7’s launch schedule. The SU7 was launched on March 28, with deliveries starting shortly after, just a few days later.

The highly anticipated Xiaomi SUV is shrouded in mystery, but concept renderings point to a sleek, futuristic design? The images depict a vehicle with sharp lines, angular creases, and a prominent grille that seems to borrow cues from the automotive world.

Although marketed as a traditional SUV, the car’s design aesthetic is surprisingly understated, prompting many online users to remark on its uncanny resemblance to the Ferrari Purosangue in terms of shape and silhouette. Notwithstanding, the SU7’s design elements are surprisingly prevalent in the latest vehicle, exemplified by the retained headlights, continuous rear lamps, frameless doors, and discreetly concealed door handles.

While renderings abound for the forthcoming vehicle’s appearance, actual photographs reveal test models still heavily camouflaged. Recently, a social media user shared footage of Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO, putting the company’s upcoming SUV to the test on an expressway.

Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO, takes a spin in the company’s latest foray into the automotive world: an innovative SUV.

New spy shots reveal a significant departure from the Xiaomi SU7’s interior, particularly with regards to the centre console design. On the SU7’s control panel, a vertical array of buttons is situated near the driver, conveniently accessing features like the spoiler and air suspension settings. The innovative SUV lacks certain essential features, including wireless mobile charging capabilities, ample cup holders, and a central console boasting an interior storage compartment within its armrest.

But, alas, this beauty won't be gracing US roads anytime soon – a disappointing limitation that may leave some enthusiasts pining for its arrival.

Xiaomi is expected to employ a comparable pricing approach for its latest SUV offering, mirroring the strategy used for the SU7 model. The prices of sedans deliberately dropped below those of the Tesla Model 3’s base model, mirroring the starting price of the Performance trim while surpassing it with the Max. Likely, the SUV’s cost is poised to match that of the Tesla Model Y. In China, the Tesla Model Y’s price range spans from 249,900 yuan (approximately $34,500 USD) to 354,900 yuan (equivalent to around $48,950 USD). The starting price of Xiaomi’s SUV must be significantly under 250,000 yuan – a mere 34,500 USD.

Xiaomi is diligently striving to complete construction on its second manufacturing facility, F2. While a swift ramp-up may seem appealing, it’s uncertain that the production facility will be fully operational and commence manufacturing before the summer of 2025? Manufacturing operations currently run on a double-shift schedule but still struggle to meet demand for the SU7, potentially jeopardizing the company’s goal of launching the SUV in the first quarter.

It appears likely that the SUV will experience even greater demand than the sedan. Without the second production line’s completion, launching the SUV could prove a costly error in judgment for our company? However, another potential risk arises when the primary manufacturing facility considers implementing a three-shift pattern to optimize production and minimize downtime?
