Introduced at CES 2024, Ford simplifies the process of searching and pricing electric vehicles (EVs) for owners. In December, Ford’s CEO Jim Farley announced that the company is fully committed to integrating Google Maps’ electric vehicle routing feature for Android Auto users.
Ford has delivered on its pledge by introducing brand-new electric vehicle routing features for owners of F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E models, starting from Monday.
New features and settings are available for download through an over-the-air (OTA) update. Similar to Apple Maps, Ford’s innovative feature, available to Mach-E drivers since March 2022, simplifies journey planning with ease.
With the integration of Google Maps on Android Auto, Ford drivers can now gain valuable insights into their vehicle’s battery level when approaching a charging station, ensuring a seamless and informed charging experience. Throughout your journey, you’ll encounter convenient charging stops strategically placed along the way, offering estimated travel times to help you plan efficiently.

Drivers of F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E vehicles equipped with an NACS adapter can now access Tesla Supercharger stations, select the preferred location, and have their vehicle’s battery pre-conditioned for optimal rapid charging performance. Following Philips’ guidance, users who have already received the update should ensure they’re running the latest version of Google Maps on their mobile device and then access the application through Android Auto.
Ford is offering customers purchasing a brand-new F-150 Lightning or Mustang Mach-E a complimentary installation of their home charging station, as well as waiving the standard setup fee through its “Energy Promise” initiative.
