It has been revealed that the flagship vehicle from the Huawei-JAC collaboration, known as the Maextro, will be officially launched as the S800 at the Huawei Mate series event scheduled for November 26. Beforehand, we shared a sneak peek at the taillight along with additional details. There is also an official publicity image available.
Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei’s automotive division, previously described their new vehicle as “very respectful, very large, and very shining.” A teaser image released shows this promise fulfilled, with a dramatic taillight design that hints at the car’s scale and visual appeal. It’s expected to have a Milky Way-like effect, with countless small stars. This goal may be attained through a variety of subtle means. Furthermore, atop this is the identifier “Maextro” inscribed in bold, Latin script.
Yu has provided further details about the Maextro S800, stating that the vehicle is extremely large, likely exceeding 99.99% of cars on the road, measuring approximately 5.5 meters in length. Not only is it massive in appearance, but it also boasts a spacious interior. This size significantly surpasses the previously anticipated length of around 5200 mm.
Chinese-language media typically require the exact dimensions to be around 17.9 feet (approximately 5480 millimeters), not exceeding 18.1 feet (5.5 meters). As a result, the automobile attains the D+ measurement milestone, mirroring the specifications of the Maybach S-class and Rolls-Royce Ghost models. While the distinction lies in being entirely electrical.
The Maestro S800 boasts a distinctive design feature: four strategically placed logos, with two on each side and one on both the front and rear. A novel type of door system, dubbed “star selecting,” purportedly features a hollowed-out design.
The automobile is available in two-tone colour schemes, as well as a sleek all-black variant. With reported plans for 21-inch wheels and a claimed uniquely styled entrance headlight design.
The auto’s debut was initially expected to take place at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Although no viewing took place, reports suggest that individual tours of the property were conducted by some prospective buyers.
The S800 is expected to debut in the spring of 2025, with rumors suggesting that a second Maestro model will follow suit by the end of that year. Rumors surrounding Huawei’s potential collaboration on a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) may have culminated in the unveiling of their second mannequin, a development that has garnered significant attention.
It is reportedly based on the JAC X6 platform. The testing spy photographs unmistakably reveal that the vehicle features a LIDAR sensor installed on its rooftop. The automobile is expected to feature cutting-edge Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a state-of-the-art infotainment system from Huawei.
The S800 electric vehicle can now be manufactured in volume at JAC’s state-of-the-art production facility, marking a significant milestone for the company. According to leaked documentation from JAC, the company is poised to produce approximately 35,000 units of its sedan per annum. Notwithstanding this, the plant’s capability is undoubtedly 200,000, suggesting that new fashion lines should be swiftly incorporated into the Maestro model lineup.
Maestro is Huawei’s latest innovation within the HIMA (Concord Clever Mobility Alliance) ecosystem, where it not only provides an intelligent cockpit and driving solution but also plays a pivotal role in various stages of vehicle development, including design, manufacturing, sales, after-sales support, and more – effectively overseeing every aspect except actual production. Maestro, reportedly boasting the strongest stage presence, stands out from the four manufacturers within HIMA, with its unique positioning garnering widespread acclaim. The S800 is reportedly priced around $140,000.
HIMA already sells automobiles from three manufacturers: Aito (Huawei & Seres), Luxeed (Huawei & Chery), and Stelato (Huawei & BAIC).
