BMW promises its forthcoming ‘new class’ electric vehicle lineup will boast significantly more versatility, faster recharging, and enhanced efficiency. Following a year since its premiere, BMW’s inaugural Neue Klasse electric vehicle models have begun production at its Hungarian manufacturing facility.

More than a year has passed since BMW revealed the Imaginative and prescient Neue Klasse electric vehicle, offering a glimpse into its technological advancements to come.

BMW’s Neue Klasse, the company’s largest investment to date, is built on a new platform that promises a major leap forward for its electric vehicle lineup. The upcoming EV models will boast “30% more range, 30% faster charging, and a 25% overall improvement in car efficiency,” according to BMW.

BMW’s inaugural Neue Klasse models have officially begun production, just a year after their highly anticipated launch.

BMW announced on Wednesday that it has started production of the first MINI models at its factory in Debrecen, Hungary.

“The manufacturing of the first batch of checks at Debrecen marks a significant step forward in the commissioning process of our new plant,” said BMW’s manufacturing chief, Milan Nedeljković, following this important achievement.

By the end of 2025, BMW is poised to launch its next-generation vehicle production, marking a significant milestone in its manufacturing journey. As production ramps up at BMW’s Debrecen facility, a steady stream of supplies and automotive components continues to arrive on site.

In the coming months, BMW employees are set to receive “in-depth training” on machinery and procedures as the company readies itself for a successful product debut.

Following the unveiling of BMW’s innovative Neue Klasse concept.

The latest BMW design direction is now visible, with potential applications in forthcoming models. As Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design, noted, the Neue Klasse’s revolutionary design makes it seem as though we’ve leapt an entire generation ahead.

A distinctive shark-like nose at the forefront sets the next-generation electric vehicles apart from BMW’s existing electric offerings.

The Neue Klasse models are likely to feature the next-generation BMW iDrive system with Panoramic Vision, a three-dimensional head-up display.

BMW’s inaugural Neue Klasse model is slated to be a crossover SUV, with five additional variants expected to debut by 2028.
