The Denza N9 SUV made its debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 15. Prior to this, we had limited information on the PHEV variant, which was primarily disclosed through the MIIT’s itemization. Now we can confirm the presence of an all-electric variant, boasting a total power output of 710 kilowatts.

Dealing with the competition from the Denza Z9 and Z9 GT requires a strategic approach to stand out in the market.

The Denza N9 boasts a sleek, enclosed grille and slim, stylish headlamp clusters at the front. According to reports, the entrance facade features a variable airflow grille with adjustable openness, allowing for both increased and decreased air intake. The vehicle features a lidar unit positioned above the windshield, enabling advanced driver-assistance systems, likely incorporating BYD’s proprietary “Eye of the Gods” technology for enhanced driving capabilities.

The physical dimensions measure 5,258mm in length, 2,030mm in width, and 1,830mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125mm. These measurements apply specifically to the PHEV variant; it’s possible that the all-electric model may differ only marginally. Patrons enjoy a choice between 21- and 22-inch wheels, featuring bold yellow brake calipers. The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) has a curb weight ranging from 3130 to 3245 kilograms, depending on the specific model.

The powertrain of the PHEV N9 boasts a 200 kW electric motor installed on the front axle, coupled with a 240 kW electric motor driving each rear wheel, generating a combined output of 680 kW. The 2.0T BYD479ZQA engine also boasts an impressive output of up to 152 kW of power, capable of delivering significant performance. The vehicle is equipped with a 47 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate blade battery pack, enabling an all-electric range of approximately 165 kilometres. The prime velocity for an automobile is typically considered to be around 230 kilometres per hour.

While the EV model boasts a potential three-motor configuration and augmented motor power, it’s capable of producing a combined 710 kilowatts of output. Although specifications regarding the battery pack’s dimensions are currently unavailable, it is widely acknowledged that a blade battery will be utilized in this application.

Despite its enigmatic presence at the Guangzhou Auto Show, BYD has yet to lift the veil on its latest creation, as the vehicle’s interior remained shrouded in mystery behind blacked-out windows. Regardless of any changes, it’s expected that the interior will follow a similar design layout to the Z9 GT.

The Denza flagship SUV features a 2+2+3 seating configuration, boasting three rows of seats. The interior features a sleek design with two neutral-toned captain’s chairs that exude a sense of calm sophistication. The central console features a distinctive three-panel layout. The Denza N9 also features a storage compartment that comes equipped with both heating and cooling functions.

While there is still a possibility that gross sales of the PHEV model may commence this year, it currently seems more likely they will begin early next year.
