Jaguar says all-electric I-Pace’s thermal management system adds up to 30 miles of range

As Jaguar gears up for the release of its inaugural all-electric model, the I-PACE, it’s working to sustain excitement around this groundbreaking vehicle until it arrives on the market next year.

British manufacturer finally reveals its highly anticipated electric vehicle, boasting a thermal management system that enables up to 30 miles (50 km) of range.

Despite advancements in technology, inner combustion engines still waste a considerable amount of their energy potential through heat.

While electric vehicles offer significant environmental advantages, a thermal management system can also significantly impact their eco-friendliness in this regard.

Jaguar claims to have been thrilled with its work on the Method E racing car, successfully translating its track-ready design into increased variability for the production-based I-PACE highway vehicle.

While maintaining a consistent temperature is crucial for all vehicles, it’s especially vital for electric cars such as the I-PACE concept and Jaguar’s I-TYPE Formula E racing car. In professional racing, effective thermal management enables drivers to perform at a higher level for extended periods without overheating, ultimately resulting in faster lap times and increased endurance on the track. With the I-PACE concept, highway drivers can gain up to an additional 50 km in range without sacrificing performance.

Jaguar’s Technical Design Director Wolfgang Ziebart recently unveiled a captivating video that effectively illustrates the concept behind a heat pump system.

The Jaguar I-PACE is one of the most eagerly anticipated new electric vehicles (EVs) set to hit the market in the coming years.

They premiered the initial prototype at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2016, with plans to unveil the production version by year’s end, likely at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2017. Slated for production in the second half of 2018, according to the manufacturer’s response. The rapid transition to mass production was prompted by the overwhelmingly positive response to the initial launch of the vehicle?

As previously disclosed, the I-PACE is an electric sports utility vehicle equipped with a 90 kWh battery pack, boasting over 500 kilometers of range on the NEDC cycle. The manufacturer has officially verified that its electric vehicle boasts an impressive range of approximately 220 miles when tested according to Environmental Protection Agency standards.

We are eagerly awaiting definitive targets for production volume and value by a specific timeframe, to be achieved within a period spanning from the end of the year to the start of H2 2018.
