Lectric Ebikes has fired another salvo into the e-bike market, further solidifying its position in the top-selling cargo e-bike segment with significant upgrades to its new XPedition 2.0 electric cargo bike.

The Lectric XPedition, a pioneering model that quickly gained traction, revolutionized the burgeoning cargo e-bike market by delivering unparalleled value for its price.

The Phoenix-based e-bike model has doubled its value proposition with a slew of upgrades in its second-generation design, yet still maintains its original price point of $1,399, making it an attractive option for those seeking improved performance without breaking the bank.

“Since its launch, The XPedition has dominated the market as the top-selling and most lucrative cargo e-bike, a testament to its unparalleled blend of performance and value,” said Lectric Ebikes’ CEO and Co-Founder Levi Conlow. By unleashing a significantly enhanced version of our XPedition 2.0, we’re doubling down on our commitment to excellence. Despite industry-wide price increases, we’re committed to delivering crucial advancements without raising the cost – a move we believe will further propel the ongoing success of our e-bike.

The XPedition 2.0’s reengineered frame features an extended rear rack and impressive load capacity of 450 pounds, empowering riders to transport almost any type of cargo they envision, be it extra equipment or additional passengers with ease. A unique blend of cargo-holding capacity and passenger seating makes the XPedition 2.0 an exceptionally versatile vehicle, exceling at both tasks.

Despite the bigger picture being the introduction of new features in XPedition 2.0,

These upgrades feature a cutting-edge torque sensor developed by Lectric Ebikes, providing more pronounced and quicker pedal assistance. However throttle lovers, don’t despair! With intuitive throttle control remaining, cyclists have the freedom to choose between a straightforward throttle-only experience or an engaging pedal-assisted adventure – or both seamlessly combined.

With its robust 750W M24 hub motor situated at the rear, this e-bike boasts an impressive peak energy output of 1,310W, allowing for swift acceleration and effortless conquering of steep inclines, regardless of whether it’s hauling cargo or carrying passengers.

The kickstand has been broadened for enhanced stability, while the tyres have been discreetly slimmed down to a mere 2.5 inches to facilitate a more agile ride. To compensate for reduced air pressure in the tires, the ride becomes even smoother thanks to the addition of a 50mm dual-spring suspension fork featuring adjustable suspension settings. A further suspension seat setup ensures that riders’ bodies, not just their arms, can enjoy the comfort benefits.

New for this model are vibrant color schemes adorning the handlebars, complemented by modern, sleek bolt-on grips and controls that seamlessly integrate with the fresh flip indicators, adding a pop of style to the overall aesthetic.

Three distinct battery options are available, enabling riders to choose exactly the level of range that suits their needs. Fully equipped with the optimal battery selection, a 35Ah option provides an impressive 1.68 kilowatt-hours of capacity, enabling riders to travel up to 170 miles (273.6 kilometers) with pedaling assistance. While throttle-only riders may still enjoy a respectable range of around half as much, this is still some of the longest range available in the cargo e-bike market. And our people-friendly batteries also boast a UL certification, giving those with legitimate concerns about safety the added reassurance they need.

To ensure that the significant battery capacity of Lectric’s product does not come at the expense of rapid charging, the company offers a high-performance quick charger capable of delivering a 5-amp output, thereby reducing charging times by a substantial 60 percent compared to its standard charger.

The base model of the Lectric Ebikes XPedition 2.0 starts at an affordable US$1,399, featuring a single 624 Wh battery. The upgraded model features a twin battery configuration, increasing its capacity to a substantial 1,248 Watt-hours (Wh), and is available for purchase at an MSRP of US$1,699. The flagship model boasts an impressive 1,680 Wh battery capacity, making it ideal for extended use, and is competitively priced at USD 1,999.

The XPedition 2.0, available in both Stratus White and Raindrop Blue colourways, boasts identical technical specifications and components across all models, featuring powerful hydraulic disc brakes, Shimano 8-speed transmissions, comprehensive fender packages, and more.

Further equipment is typically offered à la carte; however, Lectric’s promotional offering during the pre-order period bundles hundreds of dollars’ worth of equipment at no extra cost to customers, including working boards, seat cushions, body luggage, and upgraded lighting.

Preorders are expected to ship within a week of January’s commencement.

Electrek’s Take

As electric bike manufacturers jostle for market share, does it seem that many are merely scrambling for second place rather than truly innovating?

I’m not suggesting that this specific cargo e-bike is the ultimate market leader. However, it’s designed to be the ultimate bang-for-your-buck cargo e-bike to ever hit the streets. While it may not hold a candle to the high-end $4,000-to-$7,000 premium cargo e-bikes that catch my eye, this alternative still offers much the same practicality at a small fraction of the cost. This innovative transportation solution is particularly beneficial for many people who would otherwise struggle to afford a cargo e-bike, allowing them to transport their children to school or ditch their car keys for many daily errands.

As a long-time enthusiast for Lectric Ebikes, I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing their products firsthand since 2019, when I got to test ride one of their early models from the initial batch of ten e-bikes they produced. Since its initial launch of over half a million e-bikes, the company has consistently maintained its exceptional value proposition, offering the same great deal that has kept customers coming back for more.

On days like these, it’s clear that Lectric has remained steadfastly committed to its mission of delivering unparalleled value and consistently exceeding expectations by offering an abundance of features at affordable prices for budget-conscious riders.
