Xpeng P7+ launches in China with 725 km range for 26,100 USD
SHARE

On October 7, Xpeng successfully launched the P7+, marking a milestone as the first production vehicle to hit the market featuring the company’s innovative AI Hawk system. This abandons traditional LiDAR technology for urban good driving and relies on a Tesla-like vision-based approach. For its first model, Xpeng is now poised to offer a uniform level of autonomous driving capabilities across all variants. The Xpeng P7+ starts at a price of 186,800 yuan, or approximately $26,100.

In line with Xpeng’s CEO He Xiaopeng, the P7+ seamlessly blends the elegance of a sedan, the versatility of an SUV, and the comfort of a multipurpose vehicle (MPV).

The Xpeng P7+, available in three trim levels, offers a price range of 186,800 to 218,800 yuan, equivalent to $26,100-$30,600 USD. They’re as follows:

Xpeng P7+ Lengthy Vary Max 186,800 yuan (26,100 USD)
Xpeng P7 Plus: A Cutting-Edge Electric Vehicle with Exceptional Range. 198,800 yuan (27,750 USD)
Xpeng P7+ Restricted Version Max 218,800 yuan (30,600 USD)

The Xpeng P7+ currently offers its top-tier trim level, dubbed, featuring 20-inch wheels, a 76.3 kWh battery, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 5.9 seconds? The company’s inventory consists of precisely 500 models. In China, the Tesla Model 3 launches at a price point of 231,900 yuan, equivalent to approximately 32,400 USD, for optimal readability.

The brand’s latest automotive model can be classified as a sedan, liftback, or hatchback configuration. Its striking appearance is largely owed to the bold dual folds that characterize its hood, with a similar visual impact created by the split design at the rear. Notably, it is the second longest XPeng to date, surpassing all others except for the enormous X9 MPV.

The dimensions of the vehicle are 5,056mm (length), 1,937mm (width), and 1,512mm (height), with a wheelbase of 3,000mm. The weight of a vehicle typically ranges from 1,967 kilograms to 2,037 kilograms, depending on the specific model. The automotive’s torsional rigidity is 40,500 Nm/degree, a suitable specification for achieving a 5-star safety rating in the 2024 C-NCAP test. Fitted with cutting-edge technology, the P7+ is specifically designed to appeal to socially influential individuals in the 28-36 age range, captivated by innovation.

The P7+ is not a viable substitute for the P7i, regardless of its title. Despite sharing the same wheelbase length as other models, the P7+ stands out for its considerable added length. Xpeng’s P7+ attempts to revolutionize the automotive experience by seamlessly integrating into households, prioritizing interior comfort and practicality. The aerodynamic performance of this vehicle has been enhanced to a significant extent through the innovative A-pillar forward design concept.

On its debut, the P7+ is initially available solely as a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, featuring a choice between two distinct electric motor configurations. The base model features a 180 kilowatt electric motor manufactured in-house at Xpeng’s Wuhan facility. The top speed of this vehicle model reaches 200 km/h, with a swift acceleration time of just 6.8 seconds. The new generation features a powerful 230-kilowatt electric motor, delivering unparalleled performance. The upgrade slashes the 0-to-100 time to a swift 5.9 seconds, yet fails to elevate the top speed.

Here is the rewritten text:

The P7+, the latest Xpeng model, marks a significant departure from its predecessor, the Mona M03, which pioneered the use of solely lithium iron phosphate batteries in the company’s lineup. Equipped with its 60.7-kilowatt-hour battery, this vehicle boasts a certified low-temperature cycle (CLTC) range of 602 kilometres. With the larger 76.3-kilowatt-hour battery, that range increases to an impressive 710 kilometres. Xpeng’s CEO He Xiaopeng announced that the P7+ will receive an over-the-air (OTA) update in December 2024, which will boost its electric range to 615 kilometers for single-charge driving and 725 kilometers with regenerative braking? The key driver behind enhanced performance is a reduced energy expenditure of 11.4 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers.

The P7+ enhances efficiency through a diverse range of mechanisms. The drag coefficient stands at a remarkably low 0.206, with Xpeng also focusing on minimizing its vehicle’s overall weight to optimize aerodynamics and performance. This cutting-edge technology leverages an 800V high-voltage silicon carbide architecture. XPeng claims that its electric motors boast a Complete Loss-to-Transmission Charge (CLTC) efficiency of over 92.5%, with a maximum efficiency of 98%.

Within the vehicle’s interior, a 15.6-inch high-resolution infotainment display screen is prominently featured alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295P processor, this technology enjoys a significant performance boost of 50%, outperforming the SA8155 chip in terms of overall efficiency. The automotive solution facilitates ultra-wideband (UWB) keyless entry and seamless over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

Regardless, these are typically not the ones. There might also be an additional 9-inch streaming mirror and an 8-inch leisure display screen located at the rear. The latter can manage the rear seating, air conditioning, and entertainment options.

The P7+ leverages the AI-powered Tianxian system, integrating Xpeng’s proprietary X-GPT large language model. The device boasts an impressive array of more than 1,000 distinct notion factors. XPeng claims that its Xiao Pai artificial intelligence (AI) assistant comprehends more profoundly, deliberates more resolutely, executes more accurately, and not only grasps human language but also fulfills tasks in a seamless, one-stage process.

Higher-specification models now feature integrated heating, ventilation, and soothing massage functions across both front and rear seating areas. The rear seats offer an electrical rake adjustment feature, allowing for customizable comfort and support. With optional installation of a 2.1-square-meter panoramic roof available. Higher-end trims feature perforated Nappa leather upholstery. Additionally, there is the potential for a 20-speaker self-developed sound system that incorporates 7.1.4 panoramic surround sound technology.

The Rear trunk space of the P7+ boasts an impressive 725 litres, while folding down the seats unlocks a cavernous 2221 litres for ample storage and versatility. To accommodate thirty-three 20-inch suitcases, this storage space is designed to provide ample capacity.

The Nvidia Orin X duo harnesses an impressive 508 teraoperations per second (TOPS) in computing power to propel autonomous driving innovations. The system employs a comprehensive array of sensing technologies, comprising eleven cameras, three millimeter-wave radars, and twelve ultrasonic sensors. Xpeng asserts that its AI Hawk system can replicate the level of autonomous driving capability afforded by its high-end XNGP models equipped with Lidar in this configuration.

At the Paris Motor Show, Xpeng announced an astonishing 30,000 pre-orders for its P7+ within just under two hours of starting sales. Deliveries of the automotive products are scheduled to begin shortly.
