China has welcomed the latest Avatr 07, an extremely crossover-inspired model that has started delivering its 2025 Avatr 12 liftback version with an optional Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) powertrain. To revitalize the model’s stagnant revenue growth.
The Avatar is a collaborative effort between Chinese automaker Changan, battery giant CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited), and telecommunications powerhouse Huawei, marking a significant partnership in the electric vehicle sector. Initially, the company introduced a pure-electric model, commencing with the launch of its inaugural variant, the Avatr 11 SUV, in August 2022. In 2023, Avtar unveiled its second model, the Avtar 12 liftback, boasting impressive specifications. Despite these efforts, the corporation struggled with stagnant revenue growth. By September 2024, the CATL-backed model had sold fewer than 30,000 units, falling short of its full-year target by a significant margin, with only 27.4% of its annual sales goal achieved during this period. Compared to the typical gross sales target of Chinese NEV manufacturers, this figure represents a significant 19.6% drop.

Avatr unveiled its third model, a mid-size crossover dubbed the Avatr 07 in late September. The vehicle aims to compete directly with the Zeekr 7X and Tesla Model Y, as detailed in our specifications. Priced between $31,000 and $40,850 or 219,900 to 289,900 yuan, the vehicle offers both battery-electric and extended-range electric powertrain options. Following its successful launch, Avatr began delivering the Avatr 07 Professional and Avatr 07 Max trim models to customers. The company significantly ramped up sales, surging to 10,056 units sold in October, a staggering threefold increase from the January-to-September total. Now, Avatr is set to further accelerate its pace with the upcoming introduction of the premium Avatr 07 Extremely crossover and the 2025 model-year Avatr 12 liftback, both designed to elevate the brand’s performance standards.
Avatr commenced delivery of the Avatr 07 Extreme and introduced the innovative Avatr 12.

On November 4, Avtar commenced delivering its new Avatr 07 Extreme crossover and previewed the 2025 model, Avatr 12. The joint venture between Changan and CATL is pleased with the brisk pace of sales for their newly launched Avatr 12 model. Formally launched on November 2, Avatr took a mere two-day window to deliver the first batch of vehicles to customers. Following its successful launch, Zeekr, owned by Geely, accelerated its pace by commencing deliveries of the Combine minivan just one day later.
In a move that has raised eyebrows, the highly anticipated NIO ES7, also known as the Avatar 07 Extremely, experienced an unexpectedly prolonged delay before commencing its deliveries in China, with the process ultimately taking more than a month to get underway. The delay was caused by a key component supplier for this model. Unlike its more conservative counterparts, the Avatr 07 Extreme boasts a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, air suspension, and generous 21-inch alloy wheels.
