The Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid crossover SUV lineup expands for the 2025 model year, boasting two new and exciting variants to join its already impressive roster.
Based on the Restricted grade, the LE Hybrid trims features an exterior accented with black trim and comes equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, a standard upgrade found in many other Toyota hybrid models at this level. The Grand Highlander LE debuts as the entry-level model, yet still boasts standard features such as 8-passenger seating, a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, blind-spot monitoring, and a power liftgate.
The Toyota Grand Highlander remains available with a range of powertrain options, including gasoline, hybrid, and the more potent Hybrid Max configurations. All-wheel drive is standard with the XLE, Limited, and Nightshade trim levels. All-wheel drive is standard on certain trims and optional for others, including the LE, while being a normal feature of all Hybrid Max-powered models, regardless of trim.

The bottom hybrid trim combines a 2.5-litre inline-four engine with Toyota’s familiar planetary hybrid system, yielding 204 horsepower compared to 265 horsepower produced by the 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder used in non-hybrid models.
The Hybrid Max marries the turbocharged 4-cylinder engine to a distinctive hybrid setup, reminiscent of that found in the Toyota Crown Max, featuring a motor-assisted transmission at the front and an independent motor powering the rear wheels. The new Grand Highlander’s performance credentials include a 0-60 mph sprint time of just 6.3 seconds, courtesy of its advanced powertrain, and a maximum towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds, making it an ideal companion for families who crave adventure and versatility.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s fuel-economy estimates for the 2024 model year are expected to remain unchanged, indicating a rating of 37 miles per gallon in urban driving and 34 miles per gallon on highways for the front-wheel-drive XLE trim. The XLE trim is available with all-wheel drive, while the LE and Restricted trims feature front-wheel drive. These trims boast an impressive combined fuel rating of 34 mpg, with a city rating of 36 mpg and a highway rating of 32 mpg. Restricted fashion models equipped with all-wheel drive achieve a mixed fuel rating of 33 miles per gallon, with estimates of 35 miles per gallon on the highway and 31 miles per gallon in city driving. Hybrid Max models, meanwhile, are rated at 27 miles per gallon combined, with metropolitan driving yielding 26 miles per gallon and freeway driving reaching 27 miles per gallon.

Hybrid fashion options now come standard with a mandatory $1,450 destination fee for the newly introduced 2025 LE trim. While it’s certainly possible to spend up to $60,225 for a Platinum model equipped with the Hybrid Max powertrain.
