Why would anyone opt for a golf cart when they’ve got their hands on a versatile golf bike? Here’s the improved text: That’s the thinking behind Fairway Bikes’ innovative three-wheeled electric bicycle, engineered specifically for golf enthusiasts seeking to replace traditional golf carts with a more engaging alternative.
While golf may not typically top the list of sports renowned for their cardiovascular benefits, it’s indeed fair to acknowledge its value in this regard?
While this statement isn’t meant to imply laziness among golfers, it’s undeniable that excessive reliance on mobility scooters can hinder one’s ability to engage in even a small amount of physical activity, such as walking around the course?
What if instead of cruising around the course on a Club Car, you could power through on two wheels and get some exercise while enjoying the ride? Experience a relaxing yet invigorating approach to combine leisurely travel with exploring links on the same day.
The corporation’s innovative three-wheeled e-bike boasts advanced features, including twin entry suspension for enhanced stability and ride comfort. Two ride modes cater to different user preferences: the first mode offers electric throttle support, while the second mode incorporates adjustable pedal assistance, allowing riders to tailor their experience to suit their needs.
The company was founded in 2023 by Jim Billmaier, a seasoned entrepreneur and avid golfer, with the mission to revolutionize golfing experiences and create more enjoyable downtime between rounds. After a fulfilling career, Jim found himself relishing in the opportunity to indulge in his passion for golf, but soon realized that navigating the lush greens had become an arduous challenge due to his reduced mobility. Instead of opting for a golf cart, which would have significantly reduced his stride, he conceived a novel solution that became a golf bike.
Jim partnered with Fairway CEO Alex Wunderlich, a seasoned entrepreneur and passionate golfer, to bring the product to market.
“Our mission is to increase accessibility and enjoyment of the sport for a wider range of gamers.” For many golfers, the opportunity to experience the great outdoors and enjoy fresh air is a significant draw to the sport. However, some courses are essentially inaccessible on foot, noted Wunderlich. Prior to this, the only obvious solution was golf carts. As electric bikes’ popularity grew, we seized the opportunity to offer an alternative that accelerates play, minimizes its impact on the course and surroundings, and injects excitement into golf for all players. With the benefit of hindsight, it’s clear that years of perseverance were required to craft a product and business model tailored to meet the unique needs of golfers and golf courses.
The e-bike boasts a top speed of 12 miles per hour (20 kilometres per hour), with a Bafang mid-drive motor seamlessly integrated into a belt-driven propulsion system.
With its unique tadpole trike design featuring two entrance wheels, the vehicle boasts exceptional stability compared to traditional delta-style trikes with two rear wheels. A forward cargo area accommodates a golf bag, while a central console space provides golf cart-inspired storage for beverages and scorecards.
The detachable battery, installed beneath the bench seat, boasts an impressive range of approximately 20 miles (32 km), making it suitable for multiple rounds of golf over an extended period, particularly well-suited for rental use on a golf course.
With a focus on individualized attention to each customer’s unique needs and optimized fleet utilization across numerous golf programs nationwide, Fairway Bikes has successfully established a robust presence in the market with over 50 programs spanning the United States. On a waiting list for bicycles, with an increasing number of extras being added every week.
The corporation recently secured $1.25 million to support initial production, aiming to launch bicycles in time for the following year’s golfing season.
At around $6,999, the anticipated pricing for shopper fashion fleets is significantly lower than that of many golf carts currently on the market, with the company attributing this competitive advantage to its anchor pricing strategy.
