The Volkswagen Group’s highly anticipated flagship electric sedan, the ID.4, boasts a bold new design language while honouring its heritage as a pioneer in the automotive industry. The SpaceX Starlink satellite internet constellation won’t launch within the US this year as expected. While electric vehicle (EV) gross sales slow in the US market, the ID.7 is still several years away from arrival, with a release date set for at least 2025.
While the ID.7 is currently available in Europe and China, American customers will have to wait a little longer.
In May, Volkswagen unexpectedly pushed back the ID.7 launch in the US, with no new timeline announced. The corporation attributed the transfer to shifting market conditions, without specifying a target date for its implementation.
Although no official launch date has been announced, the ID.7 is expected to arrive in the US market later this year as a 2025 model.
Many Volkswagen dealerships express skepticism about the newly introduced electric vehicle (EV) sedan. According to John Luciano, a Volkswagen National Sales Advisor Council member and owner of Avenue Volkswagen in Texas, the ID.7 has been a major talking point at recent industry events.
Luciano noted earlier this year that they had implemented some level of warning in conjunction with the introduction.
According to recent reports, Volkswagen has announced plans to introduce its highly anticipated electric vehicle, the ID.7, in the United States market by late 2023 or early 2024.
Luciano hinted that the price point is likely between $50,000 and $60,000, without considering incentives, leaving open the possibility that some may view it as an aggressively priced option.
The Volkswagen ID.7 measures 195.3 inches in length, 73.3 inches in width, and 60.5 inches in height, which compares to the discontinued Passat’s dimensions of 194 inches in length by 73 inches in width by 59 inches in height.
Will giant auto sellers remain wary of VW’s latest electric vehicle innovation as Americans increasingly favor larger vans and sport utility vehicles? With projected launch costs exceeding $50,000, the electric sedan must contend with formidable competition from high-end automakers.
Although the ID.7’s launch has been indefinitely postponed, there is still a possibility that this flagship electric sedan will arrive in the US market by the end of 2025.
According to Volkswagen Group of America’s CEO, Pablo Di Si, the ID.7 could potentially arrive in the US market as early as 2025. Volkswagen’s CEO has indicated that the ID.7 electric car is slated to debut in 2025, pending market demand.
The ID.7 was initially expected to hit the market in the latter half of 2024. Volkswagen’s decision to pivot away from electric vehicles doesn’t seem to be influenced by the disappointing performance of its ID.4 model, which saw a significant 58% decline in gross sales during the third quarter compared to the same period last year?
By March, the ID.7 was available in two premium trim options: Professional S and Professional S Plus. Available with either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or 4MOTION all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations. In Europe, the ID.7 commences at approximately €55,000, or around $62,000, and boasts a WLTP range of up to 435 miles (702 km).
As the electric ID.Buzz minibus launches in the US this fall, Volkswagen is poised to experience a surge in EV sales. Will the ID.7 become a standard feature in the company’s lineup for subsequent years?
