Chinese automaker Changan’s Deepal S05 debuts globally with a competitive price tag of $16,900.

Changan's Deepal S05 enters market starting from 16,900 USD

On October 20, Changan officially introduced the Deepal S05 to the Chinese market, offering a range of options including electric vehicles (EVs) and extended-range electric vehicles (EReVs). The supply is expected to begin immediately.

  • The 510 Professional Electric Vehicle (EV) is priced at 119,900 yuan (approximately 16,900 USD).
  • The 510 Plus EV: A premium-priced electric vehicle boasting a substantial sticker price of 125,900 yuan, equivalent to approximately 17,700 USD.
  • With a max EV of 135,900 yuan (approximately $19,100 USD), the sleek new ride is sure to turn heads on the road.
  • 510 Extremely EV: ¥144,900 ($20,400)
  • The all-new 2023 Max EREV: priced at a competitive 139,900 yuan, or approximately $19,700 USD.
  • 200 Extremely Exclusive Electric Vehicle: $21,100 (or approximately 149,900 yuan)
Deepal’s 300,000th automobile supply ceremony

At the same time, at the launch event, Deepal celebrated a milestone by holding a handover ceremony for its 300,000th vehicle. The DeepAIS model was introduced in April 2022, marking a significant milestone in AI innovation.

The Deepal S05’s sleek design draws inspiration from the “interstellar flying wing” concept, with five vibrant exterior paint options available for selection. What are the dimensions of the Deepal S05: its length, breadth, and height are 4620mm, 1900mm, and 1600mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2880mm?

The Deepal 4K camera on the automobile’s gimbal features a generous 64GB storage capacity, allowing it to store approximately 21,000 images or up to 12 hours of high-quality video.

The 1.3 million-pixel intelligent headlights are capable of projecting a 120-inch display, leveraging Huawei’s innovative xPixel technology.

The entire package comprises five high-definition cameras, five millimetre-wave radars, and twelve ultrasonic sensors, offering unparalleled driving assistance capabilities, including adaptive cruise control, lane centring technology, and intelligent parking aid.

The innovative structure features a robust combination of high-strength steel and aluminum, coupled with the added assurance of six advanced airbags.

The EREV variant is driven by a 1.5L range-extending system featuring a 72 kW (97 horsepower) variable extender and an 160 kW (215 horsepower)/320 Nm rear electric motor, accompanied by a 27.28 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, offering a 200 km CLTC pure electric driving range. The total length of the CLTC route is 1,234 kilometres, with a maximum speed of 175 kilometres per hour, and an acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour taking 7.9 seconds. Capable of rapid recharging, the device’s battery can be quickly restored from a depleted 30% to an impressive 80% in just 20 minutes.

The electric vehicle variant is driven by a potent 175 kW (235 horsepower) and 320 Newton-meter rear-mounted electric motor, paired with a robust 56.12 kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery pack, enabling a commendable 510 kilometers of range according to the Chinese Laboratory Test Cycle standard. What is the top speed? It’s a staggering 180 km/h, with an impressive 0-100 km/h acceleration taking just 7.3 seconds. With advanced 3C quick charging capabilities, users can rapidly refuel their devices and get back to work. Can it take a quarter of an hour to fully recharge the battery from 30% to 80%?

The interior comes in three colour options: vibrant orange, calming blue, and neutral grey.

The futuristic cockpit features a vibrant 15.4-inch 2.5K central management display, driven by Qualcomm’s advanced Snapdragon 8155 processor, alongside an augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) and a distinctive D-shaped steering wheel. The automotive operating system is underpinned by the DeepAL OS 3.0.

The middle console features two distinct layers, accompanied by a 13L temperature-insulated storage container for optimal performance.

Moreover, the vehicle features an impressive 35 storage areas strategically located throughout its interior, encompassing a spacious 1.9 meters.2 Equipped with a panoramic sunroof, rear air-conditioning vent, 64-colour ambient lighting, a premium 14-speaker sound system, and an 8-way electrical adjustable driver’s seat featuring lumbar assist, the vehicle also boasts a queen co-pilot seat and advanced 50W wi-fi charging capabilities.

The electric vehicle (EV) variant boasts an expanded cargo capacity, featuring an additional 159 litres of entrance trunk space and a total of 492 litres in the rear trunk area, ideal for stowing luggage or other essentials.
