Xpeng’s CEO He Xiaopeng has officially announced that the initial production run of Xpeng P7+ liftback sedans has successfully left the assembly lines in Guangzhou, with the vehicles being dispatched to retailers across China.

The pre-sales of the XPeng P7+, a cutting-edge electric vehicle, kicked off at the prestigious Paris Motor Show, with a price tag of approximately ¥209,800 (USD 29,500), marking an exciting milestone for the brand. Chinese electric vehicle startup Xpeng announced that it received over 30,000 pre-orders within a mere 1 hour and 48 minutes upon launching its presale campaign on October 14. Notwithstanding this, it’s essential to emphasize that this offer surpasses any other incentive, with “patrons” merely required to deposit 99 yuan, fully refundable, in exchange for a 3,000 yuan discount on the vehicle if they choose to purchase.

What’s the buzz surrounding Xpeng’s latest electric sensation at the Paris auto show? The P7+, the company’s flagship sedan, made a splash with its sleek design and impressive specs.

Does it live up to the hype? With a range of over 520 miles on a single charge, this Chinese EV contender is certainly giving established players a run for their money.

XPeng aims for the P7+ to be a breakout model, building upon the success of the M03, which has already reached over 10,000 monthly sales.

While boasting an area effectiveness of 88%, the automotive outperforms its competitors, including the Audi A6L and Mercedes-Benz E-class, with a higher efficiency rate. The entrance seat house measures 956 mm, while the rear measures 994 mm, providing 157 mm of knee room.

Notably, He Xiaopeng showcased that a vehicle was capable of accommodating an impressive thirty-three 20-inch luggage pieces simultaneously. Despite its compact size, this storage bag appears to accommodate a full-sized 3-meter surfboard without the need for folding. The trunk space of the trunk house is initially limited by its liftback design to a capacity of 725 litres. However, this can be significantly increased to a maximum of 2,221 litres.

The dimensions of the Xpeng P7+, measuring 5056mm in length, 1937mm in width, and 1512mm in height, are indeed substantial, with a wheelbase stretching 3000mm. The spacious interior benefits from a unique A-pillar forward and C-pillar rear design, maximizing the area available to passengers. It’s widely rumored that the P7+ is poised to replace the P7i. While the P7+ appears significantly lengthened, its wheelbase remains strikingly similar, addressing one of the primary concerns about the P7i – a perceived lack of interior space.

Equipped with advanced amenities, every entry point and rear seat boasts heating, air circulation, and rejuvenating massage functionality. The rear seats offer electric adjustment for the recline position.

A key difference for the P7+ compared to previous Xpeng models is the absence of a distinction between Professional and Max trim levels in terms of autonomous driving capabilities, with all variants offering similar assistance features without additional cost.

The P7+ boasts an impressive array of sensors, comprising 11 cameras, three millimetre-wave radar modules, and a dozen ultrasonic sensors. Processing energy is delivered through the collaboration of two powerful Nvidia Orin X processors, which collectively provide a remarkable 508 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of computational power.

The XNGP driving assistance system incorporates a vision-based approach, leveraging the capabilities of Xpeng’s AI-powered Eagle Eye technology to inform its decision-making process. The technology employs a groundbreaking single-pixel LoFi structure, yielding more accurate and detailed information compared to traditional cameras. This technology enables an automobile to achieve a high level of autonomous driving capabilities without relying on lidar.

XNGP’s key innovation enables seamless booting from a cold start, eliminating the need for users to interrupt existing processing sessions.

At launch, the sole variant available will be a single-motor model of the P7+, offering customers a choice between two powertrain options: a 180 kW or 230 kW motor. Additionally, buyers can choose between two battery options: a 60.7 kWh or a 76.3 kWh pack. Batteries come equipped with lithium iron phosphate technology, featuring a compact option capable of delivering up to 602 kilometers on a single charge, while the larger variant boasts an impressive range of approximately 710 kilometers.

The media check drives are scheduled to take place the following week, with a formal launch expected either late this month or early next month. Deliveries will start in November.
