Nio reached 600,000 cars delivery milestone

Nio, a pioneering Chinese brand of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), has surpassed a significant production milestone by supplying over 600,000 units to the Chinese market. After 75 months of dedication and perseverance, Nio finally achieved its objective. Notwithstanding, the company has successfully delivered 100,000 vehicles across the past five months, boasting an average monthly retail sales volume of more than 20,000 units.

NIO is a Chinese electric vehicle startup founded in 2014 and headquartered in Shanghai. In 2018, Chinese startup NIO unveiled its inaugural battery-electric vehicle (BEV), the NIO ES8, a full-size sport utility vehicle. Six years on, Nio’s mannequin lineup has expanded to comprise eight distinct fashion options, encompassing crossovers, fastback sport utility vehicles, sedans, and even a practical wagon design. NIO also sourced its Formula One (F1) and Formula Two (F2) components from its former contract manufacturer, JAC. The introduction of this feature significantly contributed to a substantial increase in the NEV model’s gross sales in China.

As part of a significant milestone, on October 11, Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer NIO announced that it had successfully delivered its 600,000th production car to a customer in Nanxiang, Shanghai. The anniversary automobile turned out to be the NIO ES8 II. The second generation of the model’s inaugural automotive release, debuted in 2018.

It’s a joyful proprietor, owned by Solar Wei, an employee of SF Express Logistics Company. For the first time, he drove an electric vehicle – specifically, the Nio ES8. The new electric vehicle has been chosen for its innovative battery swap feature. As of today, NIO boasts a comprehensive network of 2,563 battery swap stations, commonly referred to as Energy Swap Stations (PSS), across China. Approximately 860 traffic cameras are strategically placed along highways. The largest Professional Services and Support (PSS) community exists within the Centre Kingdom.

NIO started marketing its vehicles in June 2018 and successfully delivered its first 100 units that same month. In May 2024, NIO delivered its 500,000th vehicle. Within just four and a half months, the automaker achieved the significant milestone of supplying over 600,000 vehicles.

Extra about Nio ES8

The Nio ES8, a full-size SUV, boasts impressive dimensions: 5099mm in length, 1989mm in width, and 1750mm in height, with a wheelbase stretching to 3070mm. Inside, this vehicle features a spacious cabin accommodating six passengers in a practical 2+2+2 configuration. With its second-generation ES8, the brand offers a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that can generate a maximum power output of 480 kilowatts (643 horsepower).

Three battery options are available: 75 kilowatt-hours (kWh), offering a range of 465 kilometres; 100 kWh, delivering a distance of 605 kilometres; and 150 kWh, providing a maximum range of 900 kilometres. Its value ranges from approximately $70,500 to $84,600.

Priced between 428,000 to 470,000 yuan (approximately $60,550 to $66,500 USD), buyers can opt to purchase the ES8 without a battery, with Battery as a Service subscription available.
