Nioc responds to L60 supply chain crisis in China amidst Onvo supply chaos. Prior to addressing the issue, clients consistently expressed frustration with perceived unfair queue jumping. Unlike Nio, Onvo doesn’t have as much inventory as other companies do.
NIO began delivering its NIO ES6 and ES8 models to customers in Norway through Onvo L60, a local dealership network, as of September 28. Within a span of just three days, the company has successfully delivered an impressive total of 832 automobiles to satisfied customers. On average, Onvo managed to deliver approximately 277 fashion products daily. Despite this, chaos ensued when some customers who ordered the L60 in September received their vehicles earlier than those who had placed blind orders in May. The public outcry intensified as allegations of preferential treatment and suspicious deal-making surrounding Nio’s ordering process sparked widespread criticism from online communities.

Nio has apologised for any confusion caused by the ordering process for its auto supply services. The company acknowledged its limited inventory before the surge in gross sales commenced. Manufacturing of the Onvo L60 commenced on August 15. NiO had successfully manufactured and delivered approximately 2,000 units ahead of schedule. Approximately 1,000 of these individuals have had the opportunity to view display cars and take test drives in cars.

Nio’s officials revealed plans to expedite the release of manufactured vehicles, prompting them to dispatch a batch of locked orders to the production team on September 19. Despite the error, Nio failed to synchronize matched locked orders and accurately display vehicles. Because of this, customers who had initially missed the opportunity to pre-order the Onvo L60 in May but subsequently placed their orders in September were assigned vehicles.

The company discovered an error just three days into their shipment process. It was already too late to make any corrections. Due to this, Chinese netizens have vehemently criticized Nio for the supply chain disruptions. Niio’s officials acknowledged that some operational mistakes had occurred on their part, issuing a formal apology to customers.

The Onvo L60 is a midsize SUV, measuring 4,828mm in length, 1,930mm in width, and 1,616mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950mm. Positioned as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y in China. With its sleek and glossy exterior design, the Onvo L60 boasts a commendable drag coefficient of 0.229 Cd, outperforming the Mannequin Y’s 0.236 Cd in terms of aerodynamic efficiency.

The rear-wheel-drive Onvo L60 is powered by a single electric motor producing 240 kW (322 horsepower). Capable of accelerating to a speed of 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. There is also a four-wheel-drive variant featuring two electric motors that collectively produce a combined output of 340 kilowatts, equivalent to 476 horsepower. The Onvo L60 offers users a choice between two battery options. The flagship model boasts an impressive 60.6 kWh capacity, perfectly suited for journeys spanning approximately 501 to 525 kilometres under the Chinese Laboratory Test Cycle (CLTC). The second pack boasts a capacity of 85 kWh, making it suitable for a range of approximately 525 to 555 kilometres.
The Onvo L60 starts at 149,900 yuan ($21,300), featuring a battery-as-a-service option. The L60 is available with a battery included, featuring four trim levels that span a price range of 206,900 to 255,900 yuan (approximately $29,250 to $36,300 USD).
