Beam International has launched a cutting-edge off-grid charging platform, specifically engineered to provide secure recharging capabilities for up to 12 electric bicycles.
Known for its innovative design, the BeamBike is a solar-powered platform that combines sustainable energy with secure storage for electric bicycles. At its core lies a protective cover equipped with 4.4 kW of photovoltaic panels, which not only generates power but also shields a designated parking space designed to safely lock in place e-bikes. The photovoltaic panels are accompanied by an internal battery, linked to a 120VAC inverter capable of powering up to 12 electrical outlets.
A range of battery options, including 20, 30, and 40 kilowatt-hours, allows for ample storage of energy for times when the solar power isn’t available.
Electric bicycle owners can charge their e-bikes by using their own wall chargers to plug in at the shops.
The device doesn’t just provide a convenient spot to charge, but also addresses the growing concern of indoor charging restrictions that are becoming increasingly common on university and organizational campuses.
The company is showcasing its innovative product as a solution for various settings, including transportation hubs, public parks, shopping centers, university campuses, bike-sharing services, corporate offices, municipal buildings, mixed-use developments, event venues, sports arenas, and theme parks.
“E-bike adoption remains a growing trend across key markets.” As noted by Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam International, the continents of Asia, the Americas, and Europe have witnessed steady progress across various sectors, including client, enterprise, and authority functions.
Following numerous requests from a few of our most valued clients and the alarming yet high-profile tragedies of indoor fires caused by e-bikes, we have been prompted to develop an innovative outdoor e-bike charging solution that can be rapidly deployed, relocated as needed, and operate independently of the grid. A BeamBike charging system can accompany an electric bicycle almost anywhere and is founded on our proven EV ARC technology, providing clients with the assurance of exceptional quality and performance. With over 14 years of operational expertise under our belt, we’ve developed a robust understanding of the EV ARC product platform. Developing the BeamBike product from EV ARC is a key strategy to expand our offerings and cater to a wider range of customers.
Beam is based in San Diego, California, with global operations spanning numerous countries worldwide. The exact timeline for BeamBike’s launch and deployment remains unclear, with no specific phrases indicating when the new product will become operational or where it will be implemented.
Despite the proliferation of extra campuses and buildings imposing stricter guidelines on indoor charging of electric bicycles and e-scooters, products like these will increasingly become ubiquitous in cities globally?
