Volkswagen teases new ID. 2all electrical SUV

Volkswagen has unveiled its affordably-priced ID series, a compact electric vehicle designed to compete in the burgeoning market for budget-friendly EVs. In February, all ideas were set to interchanged with the new Polo. The ID. The all-new SUV might be “as spacious as a Golf and competitively priced like a Polo,” true to VW’s reputation.

CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Automobiles, Dr. Thomas Schäfer, highlighted the importance of the ID. All told, “defines the trajectory we aim for the model to follow.”

Priced from just under $27,000 (€25,000), the newcomer boasts an impressive range of 279 miles (450 km), making it a compelling entry-point into the electric vehicle market. The exterior design draws inspiration from iconic VW models such as the Beetle and Golf, reimagined for the modern era.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars has recently appointed former Bentley and Audi designer Andreas Mindt to lead its design team. Mindt mentioned the ID. Two all relies on three fundamental pillars: stability, likability, and enthusiasm.

The interior features a 12.9-inch touchscreen display, boasting an innovative menu design, alongside a multifunctional steering wheel for enhanced driver control.

The all-new Volkswagen ID.? A sneak peek into a revolutionary ride! Meet the new 2All SUV, a sibling to the reasonably priced electric vehicles that’s breaking ground in its class. Stephan Rehak, Volkswagen’s spokesperson for design at its passenger car division, shared a cryptic image on social media platforms. Rehak further solidified his announcement by reiterating that the arrival date is indeed set for 2026.

As you gaze upon the sleek silhouette of the SUV, its glossy profile gleams with a sheen reminiscent of the ID’s renowned aesthetic. 2 all. The high-riding concept showcases a unique design aesthetic reminiscent of the distinctive features found in various VW ID electric SUV models. It appears that the vehicle may feature a prominent light bar upfront, complemented by a sleek rear roof spoiler, adding an edgy touch to its overall design?

Based on what’s been proven, the vehicle’s styling appears to bear a strong resemblance to that of the Volvo EX30. The electric SUV is expected to offer a pair of battery options: a 38-kilowatt-hour (kWh) variant and a more powerful 58-kWh alternative. Priced from around $32,000 (approximately €30,000), undercutting the ID.3.

Electrek’s Take

Volkswagen is seeking to revitalise its electric ambitions with a compact, affordably-priced electric SUV that parallels the successful ID model. 2all would just do that.

Volvo’s Chief Executive Officer Jim Rau says he anticipates the launch of the all-new EX30, priced from $35,000 in the US market, will contribute significantly to an increase in sales figures next year? Volvo targets a fresh demographic with its compact SUV, aiming to attract youthful consumers and potentially boost sales, an area where Volkswagen may also find success.

Following the announcement of additional job cuts last month, Shafer described the company’s strategy as “not aggressive”. This comes amidst a backdrop of reduced electric vehicle (EV) production due to increasing interest rates and the emergence of new, more affordable competitors.

An affordable electrical SUV could significantly boost sales, but can Volkswagen truly justify offering prices that competitive? New advancements in battery technology and manufacturing processes are expected to help reduce costs significantly over the next few years.
