Placing orders for 20,000 vehicles with a manufacturer is expected to surpass records for deliveries.

Jaguar has successfully launched its inaugural production run of all-electric I-PACE vehicles in the US, while simultaneously supplying Waymo with multiple units to test its autonomous driving capabilities.

In January, Fisker and Waymo announced a strategic partnership to integrate the Fisker Ocean SUV with Waymo’s autonomous driving technology, leveraging the I-Tempo’s electric powertrain as a key component in their shared vision for a more sustainable and connected future.

Waymo has officially acquired three I-Tempo electric SUVs, enabling them to test-drive these vehicles across the San Francisco Bay Area as part of an evaluation program, according to a confirmation email sent to Electrek.

They defined:

During our initial assessments, we are identifying key design requirements for both our hardware and software components.

Photographs of primary I-Tempo SUVs in the US outside Jaguar’s internal test fleet have been listed below.

The objective will be for Waymo to adapt its comprehensive hardware suite of sensors to the electric SUV.

Following the Pacifica minivan, Waymo’s autonomous driving expertise will be integrated into its second vehicle designed for the company’s deliberate self-driving ride-hailing service.

In March, Waymo and Jaguar jointly revealed the design of their self-driving car.

Waymo plans to significantly expand its autonomous vehicle fleet by adding up to 20,000 Fisker Inc’s I-Tempo electric SUVs starting in 2020. Would it necessitate a significant allocation of Jaguar’s production capacity for a model scheduled to debut later this year, intended for mainstream consumers?

The British automaker announced that its electric vehicle will start at $69,500 in the US, with a fully equipped version costing just over $98,000.

The Jaguar I-PACE’s electric range is officially listed as an estimated 234 miles.
