On September 27th, BYD unveiled at a research event in Shenzhen that its model, the Fang Cheng Bao, had forged a collaborative agreement with Huawei.
Two firms, based in Shenzhen, have committed to collaborate on an in-depth joint study and development of intelligent driving technologies for BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao model. The forthcoming Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8 will mark a milestone as the first BYD vehicle to integrate Huawei’s cutting-edge smart-driving technology.
Huawei’s self-driving answer
BYD unveiled plans to develop the world’s initial off-road-centric intelligent driving solution. The Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8 is set to debut with Huawei’s advanced Qiankun Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADS) 3.0 technology.
Huawei unveiled its Qiankun Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADS) 3.0 in April this year. The newly introduced model marks a significant leap forward from its predecessor, Huawei ADS 2.0, showcasing advancements in intelligent autonomous driving capabilities, including seamless mapless navigation, enhanced collision avoidance systems, and innovative multi-scenario parking solutions.
With the introduction of enhanced coaching data and rigorous real-world testing, ADS 3.0 boasts significantly advanced highway and picture recognition capabilities. The advanced system enables fully autonomous parking, allowing drivers to exit the vehicle while it self-parks with precision. Fashions are part of the Huawei HIMA alliance, mirroring the success seen in products like the Luxeed S7, which have effectively showcased this feature.
BYD’s partnership with Huawei reportedly shatters traditional barriers in smart-driving technology, venturing boldly into uncharted terrain and paving the way for innovative off-road applications. The two companies aim to create a groundbreaking off-road intelligent driving solution, capable of being integrated into various Fang Cheng Bao models, including the Bao 8.
Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8
The Fang Cheng Bao is BYD’s flagship luxury off-road and track-focused vehicle. The Bao 8, a full-size SUV, marks its second model launch this year, priced at 500,000 yuan (approximately $71,000 USD). The BAIC Bao 8 features a DMO plug-in hybrid powertrain implementation. What are its exact dimensions: 5,195mm x 1,994mm x 1,875mm, with a wheelbase of 2,920mm?
The Bao 8 is equipped to operate seamlessly alongside Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 system, further enhancing its capabilities by integrating with the HiCar system. The HiCar system is Huawei’s automotive cellular application that enables users to connect their smartphones to the vehicle’s infotainment system, much like Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto, offering a seamless and integrated experience for drivers and passengers.
The joint announcement signifies a pivotal partnership between BYD and Huawei. As the two companies have collaborated with Huawei’s HiCar in BYD vehicles since 2021, their latest endeavor in smart driving technologies represents a significant milestone in their partnership?
