The Brits took things to the next level with their top-of-the-line Scrambler 1200 XE. Featuring a comprehensive suite of performance-enhancing enhancements, this variant outperforms its standard counterpart in rugged terrain. While these upgrades command a higher price tag, they are arguably well justified given the impressive results.

The Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE’s increased floor clearance is attributed to its higher seat height. The engine derives distinct benefits from customised gasoline mapping and a unified consumption and exhaust configuration. The off-road-centric modes in the electronics supply allow for the separate disablement of both Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and traction control, catering to the demands of rugged terrain exploration. The suspension employs premium, fully adjustable Marzocchi components, while the brakes rely on Brembo’s expertise for exceptional performance. Although the XE’s dimensions deviate from those of a typical model, its elongated swingarm and modified chassis are designed to provide added assistance for riders navigating challenging off-road terrain.

The 1200XE stands out as the best-equipped and most successful Scrambler in today’s popular retro bike scene, thanks to its comprehensive package of features already impressive on its own.

What’s next in upgrading an already exceptional bike? The team at Spain’s Tamarit Bikes recently had the unique opportunity to take on a new challenge when a buyer offered them his Scrambler 1200XE to transform into their latest creation, the ‘155 Murtica’.

Martin, the owner of this captivating 1984 Ford Escort 1.2-litre XE, is a German expatriate living in Marbella, a luxurious coastal town on Spain’s Costa del Sol. Following the purchase of his Scrambler 1200 XE, Martin showed little enthusiasm for putting the bike’s off-road features to the test. Marbella is renowned as a hub of opulence. As he cruised through Puerto Banús and the Golden Mile’s upscale shopping and dining areas on his Scrambler, Martin longed for his bike to make a stylish statement.

Choosing the right workshop to partner with for the project proved to be an uncomplicated decision. As Europe’s leading specialist in customising Triumph motorcycles, and located in his native Martin, he contacted the renowned team at Tamarit Bikes.

What sets this bike apart from other inventory models, including the 1200 XE, is undoubtedly its exceptional high-end styling. With a stately foundation of stone blue and lavishly enhanced by golden accents, the very essence of sophistication is distilled within this refined colour palette. Chrome, nickel, and brass plating techniques have been expertly employed to achieve a sophisticated aesthetic, while thoughtful design elements are strategically integrated throughout the bike.

While no bicycle is complete without a seat that boosts its overall aesthetic appeal, it’s the unique two-piece saddle design that truly steals the show. The craftsmanship is indeed impressive, with a focus on elegance, as showcased by the camel-colored leather side panels and supple leather upholstery. While functional considerations gave way to visual appeal, this design decision is a perfect match for the bike’s intended purpose – a show-stopping vehicle meant to turn heads, rather than facilitate daily transportation.

The entrance of this Scrambler 1200 XE boasts a Tamarit Sahara fender and custom-designed fork protectors, meticulously painted to harmonize with the bike’s lustrous color palette. A bold headlight grille adds an air of rugged sophistication, while classic mirrors elegantly evoke a nostalgic charm. With a reworked rear profile featuring a customised rear fender, a subtle yet distinct rear light assembly, and an elimination package augmented by flip signals. The Scrambler’s exhaust system is another innovative creation from Tamarits’ in-house design team. This exhaust system seamlessly integrates a 2-into-1 configuration with a high-mounted muffler, expertly balancing type and performance in a harmonious blend. The brass-plated rims further enhance the bike’s already extravagant appearance, while the matching emblems add a touch of sophistication.

Notwithstanding its primary focus on inventory management, the most time-consuming aspects of this endeavour were undoubtedly related to the engine. Despite being a significant upfront cost, the original black engine was replaced with a brand-new one directly from the manufacturer. Tamarit spent hours meticulously painting the bike a matching grey hue to harmonize with its newly updated design.

With its impressive portfolio now exceeding 170 models, Tamarit’s latest build, the Scrambler 1200 XE, boasts a commitment to rigorous European homologation standards, ensuring a smooth ride across the entire continent. Tamarit has consistently demonstrated its exceptional expertise in modifying Triumph vehicles, earning its reputation as a premier modifier globally. Martin, the proud owner of 155 Martinha, cruises the picturesque roads of Marbella, where his sleek bike is bound to turn more than a few envious heads along the way.
