China’s Ministry of Business and Technology has unveiled new details about its latest small crossover SUV.
The papertrail presents a pure electric powertrain featuring an LFP battery sourced from BYD’s Wuwei Fudi Battery Company. The BYD-supplied electrical powertrain generates a potent 268 horsepower (200 kW).
Toyota is offering optional 21-inch or 18-inch wheels, along with a sleek black rear spoiler, and innovative laser radar technology integrated into the front windshield.
At approximately 4,780 millimeters long, 1,866 millimeters wide, and 1,510 millimeters tall, Toyota’s new electric crossover is comparable in size to Tesla’s Model Y (4,750 mm long by 1,921 mm wide by 1,624 mm tall).
Scheduled to be Toyota’s third electric vehicle to debut in China, succeeding the bZ4X and bZ3. Toyota is poised to unveil its latest offering, the bZ4C, sometime this year. By the end of 2024, manufacturing is set to commence at FAW-Toyota’s plant in Tianjin. While the exact range has not been publicly announced, it is anticipated that the new electric vehicle will boast a driving range of approximately 310-373 miles (500-600 km), as measured by the Chinese Cycle Test Procedure (CLTC).
