General Motors and EVgo are expanding their existing partnership to deploy high-speed electric vehicle charging infrastructure in major metropolitan areas across the United States. The forthcoming stations will feature 400 high-speed charging stations, including some that can deliver up to 350kW cost charges.

As General Motors continues to expand its portfolio of all-electric vehicles and accompanying technologies, long-standing partner EVgo remains committed to supporting the American automaker and its electric vehicle owners.

General Motors initially ventured into electric vehicle (EV) charging in the summer of 2020, partnering with EVgo to install more than 2,850 fast chargers across the US by 2025. Twelve months on, EVgo partnered with GM’s Ultium Charge 360 programme, integrating various networks into a unified ecosystem.

GM continued to develop its relationship with EVgo by saying the addition of Plug & Cost capabilities to its newer EVs utilizing the charging community. By 2022, General Motors initiated a nationwide rollout of DC fast-charging infrastructure across numerous Pilot and Flying J travel centers in the United States, partnering with EVgo to deploy the charging equipment.

By August 2023, General Motors (GM) and EVgo had marked a milestone by inaugurating their 1,000th collaborative fast-charging station, with plans to cut the ribbon on their 2,000th installation before the end of 2024. To capitalize on the recent GM launch, the automaker is further bolstering its connection with the charging network to ensure that flagship stations are fully equipped with an abundance of rapid chargers.

As GM and EVgo join forces, they’re poised to revolutionize electric vehicle charging with unparalleled expertise.

General Motors is expanding its partnership with EVgo to roll out a series of high-profile electric vehicle charging stations across major metropolitan regions in the United States. The proposed stations are expected to host a minimum of 400 DC fast chargers, offering rates ranging from 200kW to 350kW at competitive costs.

General Motors is poised to revolutionize the electric vehicle landscape by introducing flagship stations co-branded with EVgo, a pioneering charging process that seamlessly replicates the familiar experience of refueling at a traditional gas station. The parking facilities are marked by generous illumination, self-serve lanes, weather-resistant roofing, and surveillance systems for enhanced security. EVgo president Dennis Kish elaborated:

To drive the future of electric vehicle charging, we need to focus on large-scale depots, high-speed recharging, and creating welcoming environments that customers adore – think easy-access entryways, shaded structures, and convenient amenities. As EVgo and General Motors continue to evolve their partnership, the future of electric vehicle charging has never been brighter. To remain the premier provider of choice, we must prioritize customer satisfaction, driving innovation to deliver a seamless, comfortable, and dependable charging experience for both current and future electric vehicle owners.

General Motors announces its upcoming flagship charging stations, which are expected to accommodate up to 20 individual stalls. The network will feature a mix of high-power and rapid charging infrastructure, with select locations equipped with 350kW quick chargers and others utilizing 200kW systems.

General Motors and EVgo have announced plans to deploy their jointly branded flagship charging stations nationwide across the US, strategically locating them near hubs offering amenities like shopping, dining, and convenience retail.
The initial launch of our flagship stations is anticipated to take place in major metropolitan areas across seven states: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York, and Texas.

The company’s flagship station is slated for a grand opening in 2025. By integrating EVgo’s prefabricated approach, the initiative will accelerate construction and foster scalability through its modular design for seamless future growth.
