On September 13th, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) revealed the specifications for the latest Wuling Hongguang Mini Electric Vehicle (EV). The refreshed iteration of this popular compact car boasts a familiar interior layout, yet introduces a newly revamped exterior aesthetic.
The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV made a splashy debut in China in 2020, generating significant buzz and impressive sales figures from the start. The Baojun E100, a mini-electric vehicle, is manufactured through the collaborative efforts of the SGMW three-way partnership.
The all-new Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, a subcompact electric vehicle designed for urban mobility, boasts an impressive range of up to 200 kilometers on a single charge. Its compact size and agile handling make it perfect for navigating congested city streets.
Powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor, the car accelerates from 0-50 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, providing a thrilling driving experience. The advanced battery technology ensures efficient energy consumption and reduces charging time to under four hours using a standard AC power outlet.
Safety features include six airbags, anti-lock braking systems, and electronic stability control, ensuring the well-being of all occupants. The car’s dimensions measure 3,595mm in length, 1,555mm in width, and 1,535mm in height, making it an ideal companion for city dwellers.
Inside, passengers will find a spacious cabin with ample legroom and storage space. The intuitive dashboard features a high-resolution touchscreen display controlling the car’s infotainment system.
According to official MIIT submissions, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV boasts dimensions of 3,256mm in length, 1,510mm in width, and 1,578mm in height, with a wheelbase measuring 2,190mm. Compared to its smaller predecessor, which measured 2920/1493/1621 millimeters in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 1940 millimeters.
The newly introduced mannequin is marginally larger in size, but insiders expect the internal layout to remain largely unchanged. What stands out most noticeably about this latest model is its bold and innovative exterior redesign. The sleek, modern aesthetic of this new design has replaced the straightforward boxiness of its predecessor. The reimagined mannequin boasts a sleek, curved silhouette, reminiscent of the Wuling Bingo’s aerodynamic profile.

Here: The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is driven by a rear-mounted single electric motor that produces up to 30 kW of power. The same high-performance electric motor that propelled last year’s flagship model is now a standard feature. Equipped with a prime velocity of 100 km/h and powered by a reliable lithium iron phosphate battery.
According to the MIIT filings, the novel model is expected to feature a dual-tone design, offering either a white roof or a body-colored roof, as well as various wheel hub cover options and distinct body colors. The interior design appears to be identical in format with four seats and a hatchback-style rear door.

The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV has been subject to our first close-up review. The Mini Electric model, along with other variants in the SGMW joint venture, has proven to be a lifeline for SAIC as the state-owned company experiences slow sales elsewhere. Priced between 32,800 and 99,900 yuan (approximately $4,600 to $14,000 USD), the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV offers a range of options, with the entry-level model available from around 25,000 yuan (roughly $3,500 USD). The brand-new mannequin is expected to start around 32,000 yuan ($4,500 USD).
Wuling’s Hongguang Mini Electric Vehicle achieved a milestone of over 1 million units sold in early 2023, following up on its success from the previous year, when it shifted 237,863 units? Despite a decline from the 404,823 items offered in 2022 and the 395,451 items offered in 2021, Wuling has introduced a range of new Hongguang Mini EV variants, including a cabriolet model and a premium Mini EV Macaron variant, marking the first update to the base model since 2020.
