While there may seem to be little or no common ground between dual-sport bikes and cafe racers at first glance. While builders may share a common goal of crafting a higher-performing and more visually appealing bicycle, customization ultimately allows for a unique expression of individuality in each creation. The Netherlands-based workshop, Wrench Kings, showcased a novel construct that redefined the boundaries of innovation in their field. Designed in partnership with Gannett Design, the adventure bike is rooted in the heritage of the iconic Royal Enfield Himalayan.
The primary goal was not to achieve straightforward increases in productivity. As an alternative, the Wrench Kings sought to optimise the bicycle’s practical functionality. With its comprehensive spec list, everything from the engine to the shocks is quintessentially Himalayan. One notable exception is a high-performance aftermarket exhaust system that likely amplifies the sound without significantly impacting the vehicle’s overall performance.

Ulfert Janssen’s redesign for Royal Enfield, also known as Gannet Design, gives the lightweight Himalayan a bold visual makeover. The gill-vented panels situated beneath the gasoline tank lend a sense of adventure to this long-distance touring motorcycle, while a rally-inspired fairing adds an air of ruggedness. The sturdy 400cc single cylinder engine is proudly displayed, complemented by substantial tires that exude a sense of purpose. The rear proportions have been refined, and the stomach now sports a far more potent-appearing Acerbis crash plate.
The newly designed fairing features sleek projector-style headlights, cleverly shielded from street debris by a layer of scratch-resistant, yellow-tinted acrylic. Nighttime driving assistance comes from side-mounted foglights, cleverly repurposing vintage bar-end indicators to provide enhanced visibility on darker roads. The Wrench Kings have collaborated with GPS specialists TomTom to upgrade the Himalayan’s technology features. With the Rider 550 navigation system now occupying center stage in the cockpit, the traditional array of gauges and controls recedes into the background, its sleek design and intuitive interface effortlessly guiding pilots through even the most complex flight routes. Whether navigating metropolitan streets or venturing into the great outdoors, you’ll always find your way home with this trusty companion by your side.
The bespoke Himalayan has been meticulously finished in a muted military-gray hue, subtly accented by gleaming gold mesh and distinctive Wrench King branding, exuding an air of understated sophistication. The rich, supple tan leather adorns the bespoke saddle, its smooth texture echoed by the sleek, polished finish of the fork-mounted gear components. Will the Royal Enfield Himalayan’s 411cc single cylinder engine continue to offer impressive fuel efficiency, allowing Jerry to ride off into the sunset without worrying about running out of gas? As a substitute, this innovative design enables the container to double as additional storage space when its upper portion is hinged open.
Throughout the history of the Gannett and King families, a distinct legacy has emerged from Enfield’s humble beginnings in twin sports. Are you intrigued by the idea of proudly claiming ownership? If so, please submit your entry here to participate in the competition.
