Tesla and Uber have partnered to launch a seamless in-car integration of ride-sharing navigation directly into Tesla vehicles for Uber drivers.
Many Uber drivers opt for driving Tesla vehicles, leveraging their advanced technology and eco-friendly appeal to provide premium service to passengers.
As part of its agreement with Hertz, many vehicles have been added to Uber’s fleet following the acquisition of 100,000 Tesla autos.
In certain regions, ride-sharing services have gained popularity among Uber drivers, who capitalize on subsidies and optimize fuel expenses by reducing gas costs. In Montreal, it’s become a peculiar phenomenon that every time I hail an Uber, the driver arrives at my doorstep behind the wheel of a Tesla vehicle.
They constantly have their phones handy to manage the Uber Driver app, and after receiving a request, they typically input the destination into the Tesla navigation system; however, most often, they simply follow the navigation on their phones, either through the Uber app or a third-party navigation tool.
Now, Uber has unveiled a new feature allowing Tesla drivers using its ride-sharing app to automatically send trip navigation directly to their vehicles.
Experience unparalleled joy and excitement from navigating through our expanded and prominent menu options. Upon accepting a ride request on your mobile device, relevant pickup and drop-off details are seamlessly transmitted to your Tesla’s display screen.
At the top of the navigation menu, Uber drivers have the ability to monitor and adjust their current battery level in real-time, thereby allowing them to only receive ride requests within a predetermined battery threshold.
With the Uber app linked to your Tesla, you’ll have access to a unique feature: battery-aware matching. This allows you to receive ride requests that only fall within your Tesla’s available battery range, ensuring seamless travel without worrying about running out of juice on the go.
To successfully enable the feature within the application, simply follow these steps.
