Nio’s Founder and CEO William Li shed more light on pricing and expectations for the Onvo L60 during the company’s second-quarter earnings call on September 6. The company’s second volume-focused model is set to officially debut on September 19, with early shipments commencing before the end of the month.
The Onvo L60, featuring its specifications, is currently available for pre-order at a price tag of ¥219,900 (approximately $31,050 USD). Notably, this electric vehicle is priced 30,000 yuan (or $4,250 USD) lower than the Tesla Model Y. At the launch announcement, Li emphasized that while the new price point will indeed be lower than the pre-sale valuation, the company must consider its gross margins and therefore won’t engage in overly aggressive pricing strategies. NIO anticipates exceeding 10,000 deliveries of the ONVO L60 in December, with plans to surpass 20,000 units per month within a year. Notably, Li emphasized during the earnings call that achieving monthly sales of around 30,000 to 40,000 vehicles and a gross profit margin of 25% is a long-term goal for Nio’s model, rather than an immediate objective. For the Onvo model, the objective is to achieve a 15% gross revenue margin.
The Onvo L60 leverages Nio’s cutting-edge NT3.0 platform, utilizing a distinct battery technology that remains compatible with Nio’s battery swap network. The Onvo L60 is set to debut with a 61-kilowatt-hour battery pack, featuring advanced lithium-iron-phosphate technology supplied by FinDreams, a subsidiary of renowned energy company BYD. The new electric vehicle will also feature an 85 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery pack. The packs can be easily swapped at any of the fourth-generation Nio stations or upgraded third-generation stations designed specifically for the Onvo model. NIO’s early battery swap stations are incompatible with Onvo fashion’s vehicles? With its impressive fuel efficiency, the L60 boasts a remarkably low power consumption of just 12.1 kWh per 100 kilometers.
The L60’s aerodynamic design achieves a remarkable drag coefficient of 0.229, outperforming even the Tesla Model Y’s 0.236 Cd, thereby minimizing power consumption. What are the dimensions of this vehicle? The measurements include a length of approximately 4,828 millimeters, a width of about 1,930 millimeters, and a height of roughly 1,616 millimeters. Additionally, the wheelbase measures around 2,950 millimeters. The lead designer behind the Onvo L60’s sleek design is none other than Raul Pires, a veteran of the prestigious Bentley brand. This luxury EV boasts innovative features like aerodynamically optimized wheels and discreetly integrated door handles, lending it an air of exclusivity.
While externally resembling the Tesla Model Y’s design approach, aimed at enhancing aerodynamics. The interior design also shares similarities, primarily the fact that the vehicle features a single touchscreen interface. Despite its differences from the Tesla, the L60 boasts a head-up display, complemented by an 8-inch rear-seat entertainment screen nestled behind the center console.
The seats boast a cutting-edge 10-layer ergonomic composite design that effectively leverages a sturdy 15mm-thick composite floor, potentially mitigating driver fatigue on extended road trips. Each entry and rear seat features a heating function, with the front passenger seat boasting an additional, extended heated calf rest. A mobile app could potentially enable rapid cockpit temperature increases from zero to 20 degrees Celsius within just 30 seconds. The vehicle’s air filtration system, in addition to capturing PM2.5 particles, also employs a multi-layered approach that can effectively filter out activated carbon, gas pollutants, and bacteria. A 1.9 sq. The meter’s panoramic roof can block a remarkable 99.99% of ultra-violet (UV) rays, providing exceptional protection from the sun’s harmful emissions.
The Onvo L60 features single-motor variants equipped with a 240 kW rear-axle-mounted electric motor, while all-wheel-drive configurations incorporate an additional 100 kW motor at the front axle. The range for our flagship motor model varies between 555 and 525 kilometres, while the dual-motor variant offers a range of either 525 or 501 kilometres. The difference in performance is attributed to the availability of either 19-inch or 20-inch tires on the vehicle.
