Hyundai’s inaugural electric vehicle now features a crucial Tesla NACS port, elevating its significance.

“After unveiling the IONIQ 5, Hyundai Motor’s North American CEO Jose Munoz declared the model to be a gross sales success from its inception.”

It was only a matter of time before this happened. Hyundai unveiled a refreshed version of its IONIQ 5 electric crossover in South Korea in March. The latest model features an upgraded battery with increased range, a newly added rear wiper, and a sleek, modern design.

Hyundai is unveiling its enhanced electric SUV lineup in the US, featuring a rugged new off-road capable XRT variant designed for adventurous drivers seeking to venture beyond paved roads.

Hyundai’s new IONIQ 5 is poised to become its first model equipped with the Tesla North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, mirroring a move that has sparked industry speculation about the growing convergence of electric vehicle ecosystems. The upgraded port provides seamless access to more than 17,000 Tesla Superchargers, a significant doubling of the number of DC-fast chargers available to current IONIQ 5 owners compared to their predecessors?
