Plug&Cost for 2023 VW ID.4s

One significant perk of purchasing the ID.4 is the inclusion of three years’ worth of complimentary unlimited 30-minute DC Fast Charging sessions at Electrify America, providing homeowners with added flexibility and convenience. Now, tapping into that benefit will likely be simpler – effectively, assuming you own a 2023 model, of course.

VW says 2023 ID.4 homeowners might want to activate the characteristic within the Electrify America app and that the Plug&Cost characteristic will probably be out there “beginning in early 2024.”

EA’s Plug&Cost is enabled by V2G communication know-how that makes use of encrypted safety measures.

EA is the most important open DC fast-charging community, with over 900 stations and greater than 4,000 chargers in North America. It’s additionally the primary open DC fast-charging community to supply Plug&Cost to suitable EVs with CCS charging connectors.

The 2023 ID.4 is offered in three trim levels: Commonplace, Professional, and S/S Plus, each available with either a 62 kWh or 82 kWh battery, paired with Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) or All-Wheel Drive (AWD) options. Manufactured in Chattanooga, Tennessee, this product qualifies for the $7,500 Inflation Reduction Act tax credit incentive.

Volkswagen has set the starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) at $38,995 for the base model ID.4, equipped with a 62-kilowatt-hour battery pack and boasting an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-estimated range of 209 miles.

Electrek’s Take

As a few of you realize, I drive a 2023 VW ID.4 AWD Professional S, so I’m happy to see Plug&Cost lastly out there for my automobile. The device has been successfully deployed.

Among the most significant frustrations when using an EA DC quick charger – aside from occasional downtime – is ensuring a seamless payment process, allowing you to focus on recharging your vehicle without interruptions. It’s always one thing. I’m looking forward to giving it a try, and I’ll provide an update on how it turns out. Will it streamlines itself as seamlessly as Tesla’s Supercharger network, effortlessly fueling our journey? We’ll see.
