What a legendary bike!
“Mick Grant Tribute”, a nod to the legendary rider’s legacy, pays homage to his pivotal role within the iconic Norton Works racing team in the early 1970s, and his subsequent induction into the Norton Racing group in 2014. The iconic No. 7, piloted by John Participant, that dominated the Scarborough Worldwide, inspired a replica model clad in its signature blue and white hues with distinctive racing decals. Norton’s latest 961 Commando Cafe Racer platform serves as the foundation for an ultra-limited production run of just seven meticulously crafted motorcycles, making acquiring one for your personal collection a challenging endeavor. As part of their acquisition course, homeowners have the opportunity to meet Mick at the Norton manufacturing unit in Donington, UK, where they will be given a tour of the facility that crafts each Norton motorcycle by hand. Upon completion, they will receive a signed certificate and photograph with the person himself.
Built upon the foundation of the renowned Norton Commando 961 Cafe Racer, the Mick Grant edition features an identical high-performance Brembo braking system, with both front and rear brakes benefiting from this exceptional technology. The suspension features a unique setup comprising 43mm upside-down Ohlins forks and Ohlins rear shocks equipped with remote-reservoir technology. The bespoke British-engineered, dry-sumped 961cc parallel-twin motor generates a potent 80 horsepower and 90 Newton-meters of torque while relying on an innovative oil-in-body lubrication system coursing through its sturdy tubular metal frame. The distinctive characteristic of these motorcycles lies in their limited edition paint job and the added authenticity provided by Mick Grant’s personal touch, as seen in his handwritten signature. At £18,715 (£22,000 USD), the price tag is significantly higher than the standard Café Racer, but that’s what you’re paying for – true exclusivity.
