At the conclusion of last month, we covered the unveiling of a fresh BYD Han variant, now referred to as the upcoming Han L. New details and clandestine images of the impending new model, along with exclusive interior shots, have surfaced. Sources suggest that the new automobile is expected to debut later this year, potentially alongside the BYD Han model.
According to inside spy photographs, the overall design of the Han L closely parallels that of the Qin L. Although the brown-toned steering wheel of the Han L exudes an air of uniformity, its four-spoke design is strikingly similar to that found on the Qin L. Additionally, there could be an LCD instrument panel and a sleek, floating infotainment display prominently featured on the dashboard. The console’s central compartment lies partially exposed, alongside a minor segment of the door trim. The interior of the car features a richly hued brown colour scheme, with subtle nuances in tone. The coloration of the wheel closely matches that of the half-visible trim on the door panel, with an uncanny resemblance to a portion of the dashboard’s hue. In contrast, the cubbyhole lid on the center console presents a noticeably darker shade of brown. With the middle console clearly displaying two cup holders in view, it’s striking that the realm above the drive selector features an extensive array of command buttons. The central console features a sleek, floating design that incorporates an open storage compartment beneath, providing ample space for storing miscellaneous items while maintaining a clean and modern aesthetic. While the second-row spy shots provide limited insight, they do suggest that rear-seat legroom appears to be reasonably generous.

Despite its exterior camouflage, we’ll delve deeper into the car’s outer design. The exterior trim appears to be provisional prototypes for validation purposes. While retaining the original’s tone, we notice that the mirrors on this model are currently affixed to the door’s metal frame rather than being positioned along the window line, a design choice distinct from its predecessor, the Han.
As part of its partnership with Autohome, BYD is set to launch a brand-new model that will be available in both all-electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) versions. The Han L is likely to feature BYD’s DM 5.0 technology-based powertrain system, tailored specifically for the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) application. The given dimensions of the automobile seem to suggest the presence of an advanced, high-performance model, potentially powered by a 1.5T engine capable of producing up to 115 kW, accompanied by a probable 200 kW electric motor. An electric vehicle (EV) model would leverage the e-platform 3.0 Evo and its associated expertise, including a 12-in-1 electric drive system.

The measurements of the BYD Han L and Han models show almost negligible differences. Recently, the DM 5.0 technology variants of the Tune L and Tune Plus DM-i simultaneously debuted, featuring a mere 5-millimeter difference in dimensions between the two models.
