After a 21-month hiatus, Munich-based custom bike manufacturer Diamond Atelier is back in action. Despite significant transformations within Diamond Atelier’s organization, the company’s leadership remains resolute in upholding the brand’s fundamental principles. As their name implies, they equate their bicycles with precious gems, describing them as extravagant and ageless.

Here is the rewritten text in a different style:

Diamond Atelier kicks off its latest endeavour with a resounding splash, introducing the ‘MK One’, a behemoth of a custom project that promises to leave an indelible mark. Taking cues from its predecessors, the R100R-based BMW cafe racer by [premium workshop] embodies the essence of a refined, high-performance build.

As we celebrate a milestone decade for Diamond Atelier in 2023, it’s fascinating to note that this coincidence also marks a century since BMW Motorrad first roared onto the scene. The inaugural Diamond Atelier motorcycle, designated as the DA#1, drew inspiration from a classic BMW R80RT air-cooled model. As Diamond Atelier’s artistic director, Paul Stalmann observes, “What could surpass the significance of paying homage to BMW’s milestone anniversary by celebrating its iconic legacy and innovative designs over the past decade?”

Drawing inspiration from the legendary MK One and subtly nodding to the groundbreaking Mark II Evo, this design construct bears the hallmarks of a truly innovative creation. The parallels between the MK One and its opposing two styles are glaringly apparent. Despite this, the DA team elevated the stakes by incorporating the latest premier features and enhancements, thereby achieving a truly exceptional outcome.

While Paul notes that the distinct DA#1 model was predominantly built upon a BMW R80RT Monolever, he clarifies that the MK One and Mark II Evo both rely on the same foundation. A technologically advanced and stylishly unique BMW R100R Paralever motorcycle. The Paralever swing arm and shaft drive system is a significant improvement. The rear-wheel drive maintains a consistent inclination due to the interaction between the suspension and the torque force, which ultimately prevents any suspension movement.

To further elevate BMW’s design, the DA team has comprehensively revamped every aspect of the MK One’s execution.

A reworked suspension system, reminiscent of traditional Diamond Atelier designs, features a pair of 43mm USD forks upfront, expertly situated within a bespoke, CNC-machined high clamp. The rear suspension features a high-performance Wilbers 640 Evening Line monoshock. The braking system boasts a potent combination of dual Tokico 6-piston calipers at the front, paired with a meticulously rebuilt brake inventory drum at the rear, providing confident stopping power. Like the original, the hand controls utilize high-performance components: Brembo gears and hydraulic systems that incorporate stainless-steel braided lines for precise fluid management.

The MK One’s styling is a masterclass in cafe racer aesthetics, drawing inspiration directly from the iconic designs of the genre. The sleek design of the bicycle is evident from its streamlined appearance to its meticulously chosen gears and stable posture.

The MK One’s sleek bodywork harmonizes seamlessly with authentic R100R components, the exception being the gasoline tank, now featuring a discreet flush-mount filler cap and precision-engineered BMW roundel details. The cafe racer’s tail assumes an assertive posture, boasting a sleek Diamond Atelier single-seat and cowl configuration atop a slender custom subframe. To ensure a spotless departure, locate the license plate situated just ahead of the rear wheel, nestled beneath the rear end. To perfectly align its stance, the BMW now sits on matching 17-inch wheels, featuring a sleek cross-spoke design that adds to its visual appeal. Fitted with Metzeler’s high-performance Racetec K3 tires, this motorcycle boasts a carefully crafted riding environment that caters seamlessly to the demands of clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs.

The team at Diamond Atelier has meticulously curated an assortment of the finest components to outfit their high-performance bikes with precision-crafted excellence. The vehicle features a high-performance JW-Speaker LED light with a warm yellow tint and advanced adaptive beam technology, enhancing cornering visibility and driving confidence. The headlight bucket rests within precision-machined alloy brackets, held firm by sleek Kellermann LED flip indicators. Rear-end illumination is ensured by two Kellermann Atto LEDs, which not only secure the license plate but also serve as a rear-brake light and indicator, performing in tandem with each other when braking or switching indicators.

Electrical upgrades include the installation of a keyless Motogadget ignition system, an advanced Motoscope Professional speedometer, and a Bluetooth-enabled M-Unit electrical controller with seamless integration capabilities.

The staff went to great lengths to optimize every aspect of the bike’s performance and engine, leaving no stone unturned in their quest for excellence. The 980cc boxer engine was meticulously disassembled and underwent a proven formula of enhancements designed to maximize efficiency without compromising reliability. The rebuilt powerplant now options an elevated capability of 1070cc, ported heads, an F1-inspired cylinder coating therapy, new Minuki carbs, Okay&N filters, an improved cooling system and a custom-made exhaust system. With the introduction of a cutting-edge, programmable high-performance alternator and ignition system, the newly developed gear has yielded a dyno-tested output of precisely over 90 horsepower.

Stammann proudly declares, “This bike boasts exceptional efficiency on the streets, eliminating the need for riders to worry about the durability of its engine.”

The sophisticated colour palette of the Mark One masterfully embodies the essence of a Diamond Atelier bike’s opulent and refined nature, effortlessly conveying a sense of high-end luxury. The gasoline tank and rear exude a uniform gray hue, while the stripes and wheel hubs are rendered in BMW Sapphire Black, radiating a mesmerizing sparkle during daylight hours. The pièce de résistance, however, is the 0.17-carat diamond, carefully set within a sterling silver frame and embedded in the high clamp. This lavishness is perfectly suited to a premier custom of its kind.

As the bike makes its way to Scotland, its owner is confident that the meticulous attention to detail will be appreciated by someone who truly understands the effort that has gone into its restoration. In line with its esteemed predecessors in the Diamond Atelier series, this exceptional bicycle has the potential to serve as the crowning jewel within an exquisitely curated MK One collection, limited in scope and exclusivity.
