The Blacktrack BT-05 Cento stands as a key, Moto Guzzi-based innovation within the brand’s steady lineup. Like its unique bike counterparts, the BT-05 is crafted in limited quantities, making it an exclusive offering reserved for a select group of enthusiasts to savor. Only ten BT-05 Centos will ever be built in total. Racing cars often sport distinct paint schemes that evoke the spirit of iconic tracks worldwide, such as the bold Le Mans Pink, sleek Monaco Black, and verdant hues reminiscent of Silverstone’s Inexperienced.
“With the launch of Blacktrack Motors, building a showstopper restaurant around a behemoth Moto Guzzi V-twin engine topped my to-do list,” states Sacha. “I appreciate this model and its engine for several reasons.”
The engine, according to Sacha, is the Moto Guzzi Griso 1200’s powerplant, a 1151cc air-cooled, 8-valve, longitudinal V-twin capable of producing approximately 110 horsepower. On this occasion, however, Blacktrack has successfully upgraded the engine’s capacity to an impressive 1382cc. Significant efficiency gains have resulted from the installation of a customised carbon fibre airbox, high-performance filter, and a bespoke two-into-one titanium exhaust system featuring a GCorse muffler designed in collaboration with Zard.
With its enhanced capabilities and refined tuning, the v-twin engine now produces a significant surge in power, delivering an impressive 136 horsepower and 144 Newton-meters of torque. The significance of this improvement is amplified by the fact that the original load of 225 kilograms, which the engine was previously required to propel, has been reduced to just 175 kilograms. With the intention to acquire that, they’ve meticulously designed and built the entire bike from the ground up, starting anew.
“With simplicity insufficient, Sacha explains that stripping down an inventory Moto Guzzi to create a new fashion was not enough.” “With the BT-05, we took a significant leap forward by designing it to be thoroughly track-focused.” Designed with the dual objectives of achieving exceptional lightness, boosting power and torque output, and crafting an exhilarating driving experience, all component choices are carefully made.
Sacha’s examination of suitable components led him to discover the notable work of Guareschi Moto. Based in northern Italy, the Gaureschi brothers’ workshop caters to a range of clients focused on Moto Guzzi motorcycles, providing a diverse array of supply services. With over five decades of experience in Moto Guzzi sales, service, and restoration under their belt, the Gaureschi family boasts a rich history in competitive racing endeavors. As a result, manufacturers create specially crafted racing frames that seamlessly integrate with Moto Guzzi engines.
“Sacha’s words are apt: ‘Guareschi Moto’s collective expertise has birthed a motor housing for Moto Guzzi’s imposing V-twin, which can only be accurately described as a precision-crafted powerhouse.'” The body style chosen by Blacktrack for its BT-05 CENTO model is this one.
The Gaureschi brothers collaborated with Blacktrack to design a customized version of their robust block-body guitar, specifically tailored for the BT-05 model. The tubular metal frame represents a significant upgrade from the Griso’s standard-issue chassis, weighing in at a remarkably light 12.4 kilograms.
As was typical for Blacktrack projects, Sacha personally designed the BT-05’s sleek and aerodynamic bodywork. To commemorate the Cento, a tribute to Moto Guzzi’s centennial milestone, it was only fitting that the design drew inspiration from one of its most iconic and memorable motorcycles.
The innovative design conceived by Sacha has been successfully brought to life through a collaborative effort with the skilled professionals at Blacktrack, utilizing their expertise in crafting high-performance components from both carbon fibre and fibreglass composites. The sleekly proportioned tank and tail expertly balance atop the massive heads of the v-twin, allowing both the engine and chassis to showcase their beauty in harmony. The minimalist styling deliberately incorporates angular lines to accentuate the bike’s aggressive posture.
The tank itself serves as a protective canopy, housing a 12-litre gas cell within its structure. The minimalist design allows for a solo occupant, while the deliberately pointed rear cowl generates a sense of velocity. The compact entrance cowl wraps snugly around the headlight, harmonizing its design with the rest of the vehicle.
BlackTrack has also equipped Cento with a range of bespoke components to enhance its performance and features. The custom-designed triple clamps, footpegs, and shaft drive bracket have been specifically tailored for this unique bike model. The company’s trusted partners have utilized three-dimensional designs created in-house to manufacture these components through computer numerical control (CNC) machining.
The BT-05 boasts a high-performance alloy racing oil cooler, coupled with Öhlins’ renowned absolutely adjustable suspension at both the front and rear. The wheels, manufactured by Marvic, feature a durable construction and are shod with high-quality Michelin Energy RS rubber for optimal performance. The bike boasts top-tier Brembo braking components at both the front and rear, complemented by precision-engineered CNC racing controls, a high-tech Motogadget MotoScope Professional gauge, and a cutting-edge keyless ignition system.
All Cento orders sent to Blacktrack typically require around 12 months to complete. The custom bike’s entire configuration is crafted from scratch, offering customers a range of options to personalize their ride according to their preferences.
While designing the BT-05 Sacha focused on crafting a motorcycle specifically for off-road use, customers may opt to enhance their Cento with additional accessories to transform it into a viable on-road vehicle. At a cost of ownership that’s not surprising given its bespoke nature, with only 10 items available and almost everything constructed from scratch, acquiring a Blacktrack BT-05 Cento comes at a premium price tag. Who wouldn’t yearn to own a motorcycle like this and indulge in a healthy dose of envy towards those fortunate enough to have one?
