On August 5, Hyper, a sub-brand of GAC Aion, officially unveiled its rebranded identity as “HYPTEC” and introduced a new colour option, Hao Shi Orange, in an effort to expand its global market presence.
According to our official charter, HYPTEC is comprised of two distinct elements: “HYP” and “TEC”. Here is the rewritten text:
Rooted in the concepts of Hyper and HyperCar, these terms signify exceptional, unparalleled, and superior excellence. In contrast, the term HyperCar draws inspiration from Know-how, encapsulating the essence of scientific knowledge, expertise, and masterful craftsmanship.
GAC Aion expanded into the premium electric vehicle segment with the launch of Hyper in September 2022, aiming to increase its market share in the high-end new energy car market. Currently, the Hypér model showcases the latest fashion trends:
- Priced between 1.286 million and 1.686 million yuan, or approximately $180,000 to $236,000 USD, according to the specifications.
- Here: The Hyper GT boasts a price range of 203,900 to 259,900 yuan, which translates to approximately 28,600 to 36,500 USD.
- Here: Hyper HT starts at 213,900 to 329,900 yuan, translating to $30,000-$46,300.
In the initial six months of 2024, GAC’s newly launched electric vehicle division saw its cumulative sales total reach 164,100 units, representing a significant year-over-year decline of approximately 30.61%? In the same period, Geely’s premium brand GAC Aion delivered 126,300 vehicles, representing a significant year-over-year decline of 39.65%, with an average monthly sales volume of approximately 21,000 units. GAC Aion has publicly set a challenging annual target of 700,000 units in gross sales for 2024, but as of the mid-year mark, the company has only managed to reach an underwhelming 18% of that ambitious goal.
Gu Huinan, the common supervisor of GAC Aion, stated that the company is actively exploring market opportunities in Europe, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and East Asia, with plans to establish corresponding hubs in these regions within the next two to three years.
Additionally, by year-end, GAC Aion and Hyper plan to introduce four fresh models, featuring the Hyper GT world edition debuted in early June with a price range of 203,900-259,900 yuan, plus a novel large six-seater SUV called the Hyper AH8, slated for release in September and currently undergoing testing.
