Volkswagen has unveiled the first visuals of its seventh-generation electric and plug-in hybrid Transporter and Caravelle vans, along with detailed specifications.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles presents its latest offerings: the innovative Transporter and Caravelle, as well as the iconic ID. family. Buzz, and the versatile Multivan. The new Transporter is set to debut its seventh generation, boasting a trio of body styles: Kombi, panel van, and dropside, each catering to distinct needs; alongside the Caravelle, designed specifically for passenger transportation.
The Volkswagen Transporter’s panel van configuration features a dedicated load compartment optimized for transporting goods and materials with ease. The Transporter panel van Plus features a versatile load compartment that doubles as a second seat row, ideal for transporting a mix of goods and passengers in comfort. The Kombi offers flexible transportation solutions as a passenger vehicle, optionally available in a double-cab configuration, built on a robust platform featuring a extended wheelbase design. The Kombi and panel van options come equipped with an optional high-roof design and an extended wheelbase for added versatility.
Volkswagen developed the ‘Caravelle’, an exceptionally versatile model, designed specifically for business passenger transportation, boasting 9 seats and marketed as an ideal solution for shuttles and high-capacity taxis. The new vehicle will be available in three trim levels: a budget-friendly entry-level variant, a mid-range Life edition featuring additional standard features and amenities, and a premium Model model boasting the most advanced technology and luxurious appointments. The Citroën Caravelle can be obtained with a prolonged wheelbase.
The PanAmericana will boast a robust all-terrain design and distinctive tool features, debuting alongside the Transporter and Caravelle in the latest iteration.
VW Transporter drive ranges
The newly developed plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), boasting a system energy output of 171 kW (232 horsepower), can now be pre-ordered, featuring standard front-wheel drive configuration.
Three high-performance electrical drives, boasting outputs of 100 kW (136 horsepower), 160 kW (218 horsepower), and 210 kW (286 horsepower), will soon arrive with a substantial internet battery capacity of 64 kilowatt-hours. Will there be an electric model featuring reduced energy consumption and a compact battery designed specifically for urban transportation applications? The all-electric fashion line features rear-wheel drive (RWD), with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) model planned for release at a later date.
VW Transporter specs
The Volkswagen Bulli van line pays homage to the iconic Microbus, boasting characteristic features reminiscent of its predecessor, such as “the bold and prominent front panel, generous seating capacity, and intuitive ergonomics of all control elements.”
The all-new Transporter boasts a substantial growth, measuring 5,050 mm in length, representing a notable increase of 146 mm compared to its predecessor, the T6.1. The vehicle’s wheelbase has been extended by 97 millimeters to 3,100 millimeters, with the option to further elongate it by 400 millimeters, resulting in a total length of 5,450 millimeters. At 2,032 mm, the vehicle’s external width has increased by 128 mm when excluding exterior mirrors.
With its increased dimensions – including height, width, and wheelbase – the newly released Transporter boasts an impressive expansion in load capacity. With its extended wheelbase and versatile roof configurations, the vehicle can now comfortably carry up to 9 cubic metres (317.8 cubic feet) of cargo.
The USB-A, USB-C, and 12-volt sockets are standard features, with the electric transporter also offering the option to provide two additional outlets. The total output of a 230V system reaches up to 2,300 watts, capable of powering devices ranging from laptops to power tools like electrical saws.
The Transporter’s low-profile design, featuring a roof no higher than 2 meters (6.5 feet), allows for seamless integration into typical multi-storey parking facilities. With its conventional wheelbase, the vehicle boasts a compact turning circle of 11.8 metres (38.7 feet), making it effortlessly navigable through even the most constricted curves. With a maximum payload capacity of 1.33 tonnes and the ability to tow trailers up to 2.8 tonnes, depending on the specific variant.
Volkswagen has widened the standard tool kit offerings across its entire range of new Transporter models.

The vehicle features a standard removable three-seat bench in its third row, accommodating a total of nine passengers. Compared to the Transporter range, the Caravelle variants offered upgraded interior amenities, including improved seating fabrics, advanced airbag systems featuring curtain bags for enhanced passenger protection, and a premium audio setup boasting 10 powerful speakers.
The trim level features bumpers, exterior mirror housings, and door handles finished in car color, alongside amenities like air conditioning, a height-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support and armrests for both the driver and front passenger, unique decorative trims, three additional USB ports throughout the passenger cabin, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
The Volkswagen Golf’s sleek design is characterized by a distinctive entrance featuring a dark-colored contrast strip that incorporates a chrome accent. The LED matrix headlight system seamlessly integrates cornering gentle and poor-weather lighting functionality.
The Model’s various variants feature LED taillight clusters with a unique light signature, privacy glass at the rear, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Furthermore, this premium vehicle features advanced amenities such as keyless locking and starting via Keyless Entry, power-folding exterior mirrors that add to its sleek profile, and luxurious two-tone leatherette seats. Inside, you’ll find unique options that set it apart from the rest, including a multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel, a spacious central console with cup holders, and a state-of-the-art three-zone automatic air conditioner system. The PanAmericana toolset debuted in 2001, marking a significant milestone in the fourth generation of development. The futuristic Transporter model emerged in its fifth generation, boasting an unparalleled level of impartiality.
The all-new seventh-generation Transporter has made its debut, with both the panel van and Caravelle styles set to be available.
The PanAmericana boasts striking all-terrain accents on its side sills and wheel arches, rugged bumpers crafted for robust applications, and a bold, painted radiator grille that exudes confidence and adventure. The movie wrap also secures the trunk lid or rear window openings at the rear.
The interior boasts sleek, illuminated stainless steel inlays for the stairs, a high-gloss black sprint panel, and chrome-finished inside door handles that add a touch of luxury. The Caravelle PanAmericana comes standard with the newly designed 19-inch Indianapolis alloy wheels, featuring a sleek black finish with a striking diamond-cut edge, also available as an option for the PanAmericana Transporter. All PanAmerica variants come equipped with optional 4MOTION four-wheel drive.
