Lime, the world’s leading provider of shared electric vehicles, has just unveiled a new lineup of innovative e-bikes and scooters. The brand-new designs, dubbed LimeGlider and LimeBike, were crafted with extensive input from female users and seniors, aiming to create more inclusive and user-friendly products.
“Building on Lime’s expertise in designing its proprietary hardware, the company has introduced the LimeGlider, a novel seated electric vehicle featuring pedal-free design for an intuitive and accessible user experience.”
From afar, it might convincingly pass as a motorcycle. While adopting a bicycle-like silhouette, the LimeGlider diverges from traditional pedal-powered bicycles by substituting stationary footrests for riders’ feet.
That adds an extra layer of novelty to the seated scooter or “moped-style” experience, elevating it beyond its utilitarian origins and into the realm of stylish nostalgia.
Without a need for pedals to gain momentum, the LimeGlider utilizes a throttle similar to those found on electric scooters or Class 2 electric bicycles, allowing riders to effortlessly cruise through the city.
The reduced diameter and increased width of the tires lower the center of gravity, making it easier to handle the bike, while the step-through frame design simplifies mounting and dismounting, especially when wearing a skirt or other loose-fitting clothing. The bike can also be exceptionally comfortable for smaller-statured riders, providing a tailored fit that accommodates their unique dimensions.
The corporation explained that its newly designed high-capacity bins in each vehicle are larger and better suited for handling daily tasks.
The company’s latest improvements are designed to address the needs of traditionally underserved groups within its community of energetic riders, including women and mature cyclists.
The newly introduced LimeBike features broader 20-inch wheels and reverts to a traditional bicycle design, complete with an adjustable height saddle and functional pedals for improved ride comfort and control.
Although Lime has chosen a deep step-through frame design, which is easier to mount and ride compared to a higher-tubed bicycle, offering greater accessibility to riders of various skill levels and preferences.
For North American thrill-seekers smitten with electric bicycles featuring throttles, LimeBike’s innovative designs cater to their preferences by offering throttle-assisted rides that allow individuals to choose between relying on pedal power and letting the motor take over, depending on their mood.
Each fashion features ergonomic hand grips and adjustable phone holders, allowing riders to keep their navigation apps or music streaming effortlessly at eye level.
“We’re excited to introduce two new vehicles that are sure to delight our users,” said Lime CEO Wayne Ting. “The LimeGlider and LimeBike offer a preview of what’s possible in micromobility, engineered with a broader ridership in mind to help us move closer to our goal of creating a future where transportation is shared, affordable, and environmentally sustainable.” To ensure a seamless journey, we’ve meticulously redesigned every detail, from the tires to the phone holder, to provide unparalleled comfort and confidence for our riders. “We’re eager to build on our expertise with in-house design and innovative hardware developments, further enhancing our distinct identity.”
