The VW ID.7, Volkswagen’s flagship electric model, will arrive in two trim levels for the US market, featuring key specifications as follows.
The US VW ID.7
The Volkswagen ID.7, an electric near-luxury sedan, is expected to be offered in two premium variants: the Professional S and the range-topping Professional S Plus. The new SUVs from Volkswagen will most likely be offered with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or 4MOTION all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations.
The ID.7 is the sixth and largest member of Volkswagen’s ID family, which also includes the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.6, and ID.Buzz electric vans.
The North American-market ID.7 is likely to be produced at Volkswagen’s Emden, Germany manufacturing facility, making it ineligible for the $7,500 Inflation Discount Act tax credit, unlike the ID.4 built in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Volkswagen initiated European preorders of the ID.7 in August 2023, with a starting price around $62,000; the Professional S variant boasts a range of up to 285 miles on a single charge, while the standard model offers an estimated 435 miles of driving distance between recharges.
The rear-wheel-drive ID.7 models are expected to feature an 82-kilowatt-hour battery, a 282-horsepower output, and a maximum torque of 402 pound-feet. All-wheel-drive models can boast up to 335 horsepower. Volkswagen plans to unveil varied trim levels and pricing details closer to its US market introduction in the third quarter.
The ID.7 models arrive equipped with 19-inch wheels, illuminated logos at the front and rear, and power-folding side mirrors. The vehicle also features a five-door setup with advanced keyless entry, allowing for seamless proximity unlocking, as well as an innovative power tailgate with intuitive open/close functionality.
Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE advanced driver assistance system features a hands-on, semi-autonomous driving capability, complemented by driver-controlled lane changes. Additionally, all ID.7 models feature advanced parking technology, including Park Distance Control, Park Assist Plus with memory parking, and 360-degree Space View.
The Professional S+ fashions a trip on 20-inch wheels, boasting DCC adaptive damping and dynamic steering. The advanced Climatronic seats feature a sophisticated computerized heating and airflow system, combined with an enhanced therapeutic massage operation for unparalleled comfort and relaxation. The Professional S Plus boasts a 700-watt Harman/Kardon sound system featuring 14 speakers, including a front center speaker and a trunk-mounted subwoofer.
The exterior color options for supply are expected to include Mythos Black, Glacier White, Moonstone Gray, Aquamarine Blue, and Kings Pink.
ID.7 inside options
The ID.7 features a 15-inch infotainment display and an advanced augmented reality head-up display. The interior is bathed in a warm glow, courtesy of a panoramic glass roof featuring intelligent electrochromic tinting technology that adjusts to suit your mood.
This luxurious vehicle also features a heated steering wheel, 12-way adjustable heated front seats with therapeutic massage and memory functions, ambient air vents, and a sophisticated three-zone automatic climate control system. I delight in the premium features of my ID.4 AWD Professional S, including… particularly, the heated seats and steering wheel.
The interior color options are divided into two schemes: Galaxy, characterized by black seats with white stitching and a somber color palette; and Lunar, featuring grey seats with contrasting stitching and a light-colored interior design.
