On July 20, BYD announced that its BYD Track Plus electric vehicles had surpassed 1 million units sold, making it the first new energy sport utility vehicle (SUV) in China to achieve this milestone.

Currently, the BYD Track Plus range comprises two options: a DM-i plug-in hybrid variant and a purely electric offering within the broader BYD Dynasty family of products. On January 3 of this year, BYD Auto’s Xi’an manufacturing facility marked a milestone as it produced its 800,000th BYD Track Plus Champion Edition vehicle on the assembly line. According to BYD, their plug-in hybrid SUV lineup held the top spot for gross sales championships over two and a half years, with an impressive 390,213 units sold in 2023, representing a 14.81% year-over-year decline, yet still ranking second in overall SUV sales.

Subsequently, BYD introduced additional trim levels to its lineup. In February of this year, the Track Plus DM-i/EV Honor Edition made its market debut, priced between 129,800 yuan (£18,300) and 17,800 USD. The all-new 2025 Track Plus DM-i is set to officially debut on July 25, boasting BYD’s cutting-edge fifth-generation DM technology.

The BYD Track Plus DM-i’s declaration photos have been officially released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The 2025 Track Plus DM-i is equipped with the same 18.3 kWh and 26.6 kWh Blade battery packs as its predecessor, ensuring seamless compatibility and performance. The Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Cycle (WLTC) pure electric variant has been upgraded to achieve a remarkable range of 91 km and 128 km, while its gasoline counterpart boasts improved fuel efficiency, with consumption rates reduced to 4.95L/100km and 4.98L/100km respectively. The starting price tag for the all-new automobile model begins at ¥150,000 (approximately $20,600 USD), maintaining its physical dimensions of 4,775mm in length, 1,890mm in width, 1,670mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,765mm.
