When combining a renowned Canadian electric scooter manufacturer known for its premium designs with decades of insights from the e-scooter community, you can expect a truly exceptional product. When the Apollo Professional starts delivering its innovative product next year, it promises to revolutionize transportation with the world’s first electrical Hyper Scooter.

This isn’t the first rodeo for Apollo Scooters when it comes to pioneering new ideas. The Montreal-based company has devoted years to crafting innovative, rider-centric electric scooter designs, heavily influenced by the input gathered from tens of thousands of enthusiastic users.

For those familiar with our previous review of Apollo’s latest electric scooter, the Metropolis, they will recognize the similarities between it and the company’s newest model.

As Apollo’s mythological reputation was redefined in an historic announcement addressed to:

The Apollo Pro is a leading electric Hyper Scooter due to its exceptional efficiency, seamless integration with IoT systems, and robust customization options. Following hot on the heels of the Metropolis 2022’s debut, the Apollo Professional builds upon its predecessor’s innovations to set a new benchmark. Designed with human-centric principles at its core, this innovative transportation solution seamlessly incorporates cutting-edge technologies from automotive, mobile devices, and Internet of Things (IoT) sectors to deliver an unparalleled level of comfort and safety for users. This cutting-edge innovation leverages the power of IoT, coupled with a sophisticated battery management system and smartphone integration, offering an unparalleled user experience.

While many electrical scooters are simply assemblages of off-the-shelf components or rebranded OEM products, the Apollo Professional stands out with its over 150 custom-designed parts crafted by Apollo’s experts. The scooter’s unibody frame, forged from a single piece of aluminum, boasts impressive load-carrying capacity, supporting up to 330 pounds (150 kg)? The bike features a unique twin-suspension system, paired with entrance and rear swingarms that work in tandem to absorb the bumps and jolts of urban terrain, ensuring a smoother ride.

Essential elements, akin to the proprietary M1 controller, contribute to delivering a bespoke user experience by seamlessly integrating design, build quality, and ride style. The scooter boasts large, 12-inch wheels equipped with innovative self-healing tires that eliminate the need for inner tubes by utilizing a tubeless rim and tire configuration reminiscent of automotive designs.

The vehicle’s braking system features a sealed design for its two drum brakes, ensuring zero maintenance requirements and consistent braking performance in both wet and dry conditions.

While riders may initially assume they rarely utilise the physical brakes, a distinct throttle located on the left side of the handlebars governs potent regenerative braking capabilities, seamlessly slowing the scooter to a halt and simultaneously replenishing the battery.

The notion that naming a car “hyper” requires more than just sleek design and bespoke parts is, indeed, suspect – unless, of course, one’s expectations are as low as those of a discount retailer like Walmart.

The Apollo Professional Hyper Scooter lives up to its name, offering exceptional speed.

The device harnesses the power of two 1,200-watt motors to deliver a robust all-wheel-drive capability, boasting an impressive output of 2.4 kilowatts and a top speed of 70 kilometers per hour (43.5 miles per hour). While the scooter’s efficiency may initially seem impressive, it’s not just a fleeting phenomenon; its anticipated range of up to 100 km (62 miles) from the substantial 30 Ah battery is a testament to its enduring capabilities. Depending on usage, the scooter enables either extended use at moderate speeds over several days or intense riding at high velocities throughout an entire day on a single charge.

The battery should comfortably sustain riders well into the evening, at which point the 360-degree lighting system takes over. The vessel features integrated LED lighting that comprises entry and exit points, flapping indicators, and a continuous wraparound illumination along the deck’s perimeter. To make your presence known and felt, this advanced scooter features an innovative audio system that serves as a unique value-add.

By leveraging the rider’s smartphone via the intuitive Apollo app, the Apollo Professional eschews the constraint of a small display, instead offering an unparalleled level of detail and visual sophistication. The Apollo Professional scooter’s display screen is undoubtedly a significant improvement over anything an organization could possibly integrate into its design, with its built-in cellphone holder conveniently mounted at the handlebar. The device features wireless charging capabilities, ensuring that your phone’s battery remains fully charged while utilizing in-app navigation, remote locking, and other app-dependent functions without draining the battery.

The application enables users to receive off-site notifications through its integrated Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities. Riders can trigger the scooter’s alarm once they’ve parked their vehicle for added security. In the event that someone attempts to steal the scooter, a prompt notification will likely be sent directly to the rider’s cell phone.

The scooter’s alarm may sound, automatically locking it to prevent potential theft; consequently, it cannot be ridden away or resold in its original working condition.

While alarms and auto-locking mechanisms can help mitigate the risk of theft, they cannot entirely eliminate it. That’s why Apollo goes full Apple, offering Apollo Care as a comprehensive warranty that includes theft protection and repair services.

What worth do these fleeting moments hold for you? While initially appearing to be a costly option, the true cost is actually $3,599, with an opportunity to secure your spot early on by placing a fully refundable $20 deposit for Q1 2023 deliveries. Financing options are available for $90 per 30-day period.

Electrek’s Take

In the cutthroat world of high-performance scooters, the value might blow your mind, but it’s hardly unprecedented.

While the notion may seem astonishing to some, a dedicated subset of enthusiasts does treat an electric scooter capable of reaching 40-50 mph as their primary mode of transportation. In metropolitan areas, it’s not uncommon to spot a rider clad in a motorcycle jacket and helmet, effortlessly cruising down the highway on a high-performance scooter worth over $3,600. High-end fashion isn’t cheap; that’s a given!

You’re paying for a substantial amount of innovative effort that went into designing and building a brand-new scooter from scratch, rather than just assembling a collection of components from a catalogue, as is often the case.

While the Apollo Professional may not appeal to everyone, it’s specifically designed for a niche group of scooter enthusiasts who will appreciate its unique features and capabilities.

We’re looking forward to the opportunity to test one of these individually once they begin shipping. While eagerly anticipating this opportunity, feel free to review my Apollo Metropolitan review below to discover how the company can optimize a budget-friendly, 30-mph electric scooter at a significantly reduced price point.
