On July 21, BYD unveiled its BYD M6, a pure electric multi-purpose vehicle, at GAIKINDO Indonesia Worldwide Auto Present (GIIAS), marking its entry into the Indonesian market as its first MPV model and also introducing the country’s first-ever pure electric MPV. The vehicle is available in three trims, priced between $23,400 and $26,500: the Normal 7-Seater, Superior 7-Seater, and Superior Captain 6-Seater.
The BYD M6 is propelled by 55.4 kWh and 71.8 kWh BYD Blade batteries as standard, offering two NEDC ranges: a base variant of 420 km, and a higher-specification model delivering up to 530 km. With quick charging at a rate of 115 kW, the battery can be refilled from 10% to 80% capacity within just 40 minutes. The base model features an electric motor capable of delivering up to 163 horsepower and a maximum torque of 310 Newton-meters. The top-tier Superior trim boasts an electric motor delivering 204 horsepower and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds, with an additional 10.1 seconds for the 0 – 60 mph acceleration time.
Developed primarily based on the BYD Music Max, as detailed in the specifications, the BYD M6 bears a striking resemblance to its sibling, the BYD e6. Since its introduction in 2010, the BYD e6 has focused primarily on serving the taxi industry. The exterior of the BYD M6 features a prominent front fascia, boasting a spacious enclosure that seamlessly integrates sleek headlights connected via a gleaming chrome band, proudly showcasing the BYD logo at its center?
Earlier, an uncamouflaged BYD M6 right-hand drive model was spotted on Chinese streets. At the rear of the vehicle, the taillights feature a sleek, horizontal chrome trim that adds a touch of sophistication, accompanied by the “BYD M6” logo discreetly situated in the lower right corner. The BYD M6 measures 4,710 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,690 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm.
The BYD M6 offers a choice of six-seat and seven-seat configurations inside. The dashboard features a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen display, integrated with BYD’s DiLink system and supporting seamless CarPlay connectivity. This advanced vehicle comes equipped with cutting-edge features, including keyless entry, effortless one-touch ignition, adaptive air conditioning, intelligent cruise control, comprehensive safety nets comprising six airbags, and enhanced electronic stability management. The high-end trims come equipped with a range of premium features, including a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, an electric power liftgate, advanced safety features such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. The typical trunk capacity is approximately 652 litres.
