Can Razor’s latest 1,000W electric scooter confidently transport two fully grown individuals at once?

Razor’s new ‘most versatile yet’ 1,000W electric scooter carries two seated adults
SHARE

The Razor brand has become synonymous with family fun and nostalgia for many people. While traditional Razor scooters may seem simplistic at first glance? The corporation is launching a revolutionary, two-passenger, electric scooter designed specifically for adults, featuring large wheels. Meet the Razor EcoSmart Cargo.

The Razor EcoSmart Cargo is designed for seated riding, a distinct departure from traditional standing scooters you may be familiar with.

Notably, this seated electric scooter boasts a substantial rear rack capable of holding cargo or accommodating a secondary seat for a passenger.

There might exist a protective rear wheel skirt and fold-down footpegs, allowing the rear rider a comfortable space to accommodate their barking dog in peace. The journey takes on a vintage Vespa-inspired flair, minus the nostalgic charm.

While suspension refinement may be lacking, passengers in the rear compartment can at least expect some comfort courtesy of a padded seat and broad tyres designed to absorb road irregularities.

In keeping with Razor:

The EcoSmart Cargo’s sleek design seamlessly blends style, comfort, and practicality, featuring an olive-green body, spacious bamboo deck, and a powerful 1000-watt motor with chain drivetrain that effortlessly propels riders.

Unlike many electric scooters that employ a hub motor situated within a single wheel or evenly distributed across both, our 1,000W motor is strategically positioned at the centre, offering enhanced stability and a smoother ride. Razor’s recent shift towards chain-driven mid-motors suggests that the brand is in no hurry to slow down their innovative pace.

The motor should be powerful enough to propel the Razor EcoSmart Cargo scooter up to a lively 20 miles per hour (32 kilometers per hour).

The scooter’s range extends to an impressive 16.6 miles (27 km), allowing for up to approximately 50 minutes of continuous riding time. Assuming the math is accurate, the key factors remain consistent when reaching the 20-mph speed mark.

While the design doesn’t explicitly state it, it appears that the intended use is to avoid exhausting the device’s power source by allowing users to comfortably extend their battery life beyond 50 minutes without needing to recharge. While hiking downhill might add some excitement to your experience?

The scooter seems designed with practicality in mind, aligning with its corporate-defined purpose.

The EcoSmart Cargo has been meticulously designed to deliver unparalleled efficiency and maximum utility. With its versatile design, this seated scooter accommodates various uses – whether you’re hauling fresh produce from the farmer’s market, providing a convenient ride for your roommate to class, or commuting to work, while adhering to local regulations. The convertible rack system allows riders to choose between an adult passenger seat featuring integrated storage, a versatile basket, or a fully customizable rack.

The EcoSmart Cargo features 16-inch diameter wheels with wide tires, LED headlights, and a rear brake/tail light, as well as an on-board display showing speed and battery life. It also boasts five different speed modes for throttle control, fenders designed for wet driving conditions, and a single mechanical disc brake at the rear that’s ideal for power slides.

The scooter is available in olive green, further emphasizing its RadRunner-like design, minus the pedals.

At a price point of $1,099, the Razor EcoSmart Cargo offers significant value by undercutting many but not all utility-focused electric bicycles.
